Downtown Toronto.</p><h3>Description</h3><p><b>Senior Underwriting Specialist</b> to support a large complex portfolio. You will lead complex risk assessments, develop customized underwriting strategies, and serve as a trusted advisor to key clients and internal stakeholders. Your industry knowledge and analytical acumen will help shape underwriting decisions that align with business goals and client needs.</p><h3>Responsibilities</h3><ul><li>Evaluate and underwrite large, complex, or unique risks within strategic accounts.</li><li>Collaborate with account managers, actuaries, and legal teams to structure innovative solutions.</li><li>Develop and maintain strong relationships with brokers, clients, and internal partners.</li><li>Monitor portfolio performance and recommend adjustments to underwriting guidelines.</li><li>Lead or contribute to strategic initiatives, including product development and process improvement.</li><li>Mentor junior underwriters and contribute to knowledge-sharing across the team.</li></ul><h3>Qualifications</h3><ul><li>University degree; advanced insurance-related certifications like CIP or equivalent.</li><li>Minimum 10 years of underwriting experience, with a focus on large or strategic accounts.</li><li>Strong analytical, negotiation, and decision-making skills.</li><li>Excellent communication and relationship management abilities.</li><li>Proficiency in underwriting tools, risk modeling, and data analysis platforms.</li><li>High ethical standards, adherence to industry regulations, and ability to handle sensitive information discreetly.</li><li>Strong negotiation skills, adaptability to changing market conditions and underwriting guidelines, and ability to handle multiple underwriting files simultaneously.</li></ul><h3>About Us</h3><p>DGA Careers has been proudly serving the Canadian insurance industry for over 30 years, specializing in providing insurance recruiting services to major insurers, insurance brokerage firms, and independent adjusting firms.
