A boutique law firm in midtown Toronto, in business for over 40 years, specializing in litigation, debt collection and real estate matters.

Please note that this role is for a litigation Law Clerk, and we ask that you do not apply if you are an articling student or have long-term goals to be a lawyer.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring all physical and electronic court filing.
  • Drafting affidavits of service, demand letters and additional correspondence, including other legal documents as needed
  • Providing documents and materials on time to meet client needs, including proofreading legal documents for accuracy and completeness
  • Managing scheduling, and handling expense posting to files and billings
  • Dealing with and responding to client inquiries, and conducting follow up as required
  • Verbal and written communications to opposing parties and lawyers

Core Skills & Requirements:

  • Proficiency in file management and organization, including preparing statements of claims and judgements, filing writs, issuing garnishments and preparation of sheriff sale documents
  • Working knowledge of court proceedings and preparation of relevant documents, including title search, corporate search, and bankruptcy documents
  • Competency in data entry tasks with attention to accuracy and precision
  • Extremely efficient and adept organizational skills to manage simultaneous tasks effectively
  • Strong grammatical skills, including proofreading, attention to detail and accuracy are a must
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, as well as problem solving skills
  • Knowledge and experience with ACL and GhostPractice, as well as familiarity of litigation
  • Understands confidentiality of client information

Experience:

Previous working experience or co-op internship experience is a must (salary negotiable and commensurate with experience)

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $50,000.00-$65,000.00 per year
