The Volunteer’s Role

Join us as a Financial Management Advisor for the SHARE project in Mwanza, Tanzania, where you'll leverage your financial knowledge to guide small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the dynamic fields of food processing and natural resource products. In this key role, you will engage with local SMEs, collaborating with the SIDO and the SHARE project team to provide valuable business insights on production and marketing strategies. To effectively advise these enterprises on scaling their operations, a strong grasp of business fundamentals and relevant entrepreneurial or manufacturing experience is essential. You'll be well-supported by project partners dedicated to nurturing SME growth through your expert guidance.

As a volunteer, you will:

  • Conduct training sessions for employees on essential financial concepts and introductory accounting practices.
  • Work alongside staff to develop efficient financial processes for budgeting and expense oversight.
  • Offer guidance and mentorship to employees to improve the quality of business support services.
  • Collaborate with staff to design tools and training materials aimed at enhancing their business development services.
  • Essential Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance or a related field
  • Essential Background:

  • 3 to 5 years of experience in the development of financial management systems
  • Proficiency in creating and executing financial regulations, policies, and procedures
  • Strong experience in promoting and supporting organizational development
  • Skills in facilitation and training, along with experience in designing and conducting workshops

    Support Package

  • Agree to uphold the Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA) policy and Code of Conduct 
  • Residency and Citizenship: Candidates are responsible for confirming how volunteering internationally may affect their citizenship or residency status. Canadian Permanent Residents should verify requirements with Immigration Canada before travel.
