<p><h3>Overview</h3><p>Associate Director, IT / S at Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity. This role supports the daily operations of information technology services within a unionized environment, with direct supervision of teams being phased in over time. The position oversees development, application support, infrastructure, networking, helpdesk, cybersecurity, and audio/visual technical services. This role involves managing third-party and internal infrastructure and applications, and assisting with IT / S financial operations including contracts, payments, budgeting, and forecasting.</p><p><b>Compensation</b></p><p>Base pay range: <b>CA$82,455.00 / yr - CA$122,451.00 / yr</b></p><p><b>Note:</b> Pay range provided by Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity; actual pay based on skills and experience.</p><p><b>Location and acknowledgement</b></p><p>We acknowledge the Banff area and surrounding First Nations and Métis communities and honour their enduring presence on this land.</p><h3>The Opportunity</h3><p>The Associate Director, IT / S is responsible for supporting the daily operations of information technology services within a unionized environment, with direct supervision of teams being phased in over time. This position oversees diverse teams including development, application support, infrastructure, networking, helpdesk, cybersecurity, and audio/visual technical services. Responsibilities include managing both third-party and internally maintained infrastructure and applications that support business processes across the organization, as well as assisting with IT / S financial operations such as contracts, payments, budgeting, and forecasting.</p><h3>Responsibilities</h3><ul><li>Work closely and collaboratively with the Director, Chief Information Officer and IT / S teams to ensure projects and operations are staffed according to needs and available resources, and that projects transition to operational status smoothly and on time.</li><li>Ensure that information security remains a priority in all activities and services.</li><li>Manage the daily activities of team members involved in the support and delivery of services, ensuring adequate staff coverage, and including longer range capacity planning.</li><li>Ensure end-user communication is a priority for service outages, system upgrades, service improvements, service implementation, and service retirements.</li><li>Work directly with vendors, contractors and service providers, providing oversight and budget management.</li><li>Establish and enforce standards for change management, problem management and technical support, participating in the development and implementation of formalized policies and procedures.</li><li>Assist in managing the IT / S financial responsibilities including updating the budget and forecast based on direction from the Director and CIO.</li><li>Evaluate new technologies and platforms to determine alignment with Banff Centre business needs, while remaining flexible to business needs and changes.</li><li>Manage response to alerts and notifications of after-hours activity; be available after-hours as required.</li><li>Analyze and solve problems and make effective decisions. Escalate more complex matters to Director as needed.</li></ul><h3>Human Resources, Team Building and Interdivisional Cooperation</h3><ul><li>Foster an internal culture that maintains the highest standards for customer service, excellence of employees, participant and guest experience, and fiscal, operational, and organizational integrity.</li><li>Ensure a positive and safe work environment for all team members aligned with Banff Centre’s policies.</li><li>Maintain effective working relationships with team members, internal partners, customers, the union and other stakeholders.</li><li>Enable employees to function as a high performing team at all times, maintaining open communication, clear objectives and priorities, and a culture of positive behavioral intent that is consistent with Banff Centre values and inclusive of a diverse workforce.</li><li>Ensure team members represent Banff Centre to stakeholders in an informed, helpful, and positive way, aiming to increase the organization’s public value in each interaction.</li><li>Recruit, hire, and mentor team members, assigning work, and measuring performance in relation to the strategic standards of excellence and goals; work with Human Resources to ensure policies, contractual, and work culture expectations are met.</li><li>Facilitate ongoing communication with all colleagues at all levels to ensure alignment with organizational values.</li><li>Ensure employees understand their roles, responsibilities, and performance standards and provide ongoing feedback, coaching and support.</li></ul><h3>Qualifications and Educational Requirements</h3><ul><li>A university degree in related discipline or equivalent experience</li><li>7 - 10 years’ experience in directly managing operations and operational teams for service desk, networking, servers and applications support</li><li>Experience working in a unionized environment is an asset</li><li>Ability to provide Tier 2 / 3 technical support and guidance to IT / S staff</li><li>Demonstrated experience balancing resources to budget</li><li>Strong knowledge of Microsoft products, particularly Entra ID, Office 365, SharePoint, Windows, AD</li><li>Strong knowledge of infrastructure components such as AD, DNS, GPO, patching, and backups</li><li>Proven track record of managing teams and driving performance through motivation, collaboration and partnerships</li><li>Strong communications skills to interact with a range of stakeholders</li><li>Experience negotiating and managing third-party vendors</li><li>Financial management and planning experience</li><li>Excellent organizational skills to manage an environment with competing demands</li></ul><h3>Employment Terms and Benefits</h3><ul><li>This is a salaried, full-time position, subject to a 6-month probationary period, under the terms governing Management / PSP employees.</li><li>Salary range: CA$82,455 - CA$122,451 based on experience.</li><li>Twenty paid vacation days and four personal days annually, extended medical and dental benefits, and participation in an employer-matched pension plan.</li></ul><h3>Benefits of working at Banff Centre</h3><ul><li>Transitional staff housing options (based on availability)</li><li>Employee Assistance Program</li><li>Health care spending account</li><li>Staff cafeteria and restaurant discounts</li><li>Onsite fitness facility – first month free for new staff</li></ul><h3>Application Process</h3><ul><li>We are accepting applications for the Director, IT / S position until a suitable candidate is found.</li><li>Criminal record check with clear report required before final job offer.</li><li>Visa Requirements: Candidates must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
