Role: Associate Creative Director, Art Direction


About the role


The Associate Creative Director, Art Direction is responsible for shaping the visual language and creative execution of projects across a variety of mediums. This individual is a visionary artist, an expert collaborator, and a detail‑oriented leader who ensures that every project delivers compelling and cohesive design and imagery. Teamed up with an Associate Creative Director – Copywriter, the role guides the creative process from ideation to final execution, ensuring that our standards of innovation, inclusivity, and excellence are upheld.


This role involves close collaboration with the Creative Director, Copywriters, Strategists, Account and Production teams, as well as direct engagement with clients to translate strategic objectives into impactful visuals. It also requires hunger for learning and adapting creative processes and practices with GenAI. We’re looking for someone who is excited by the opportunities presented through technological innovation.


What you will be doing



  • Visual Concepting & Execution: Develop and execute strong concepts that are visually compelling, ensuring alignment with client briefs and our ethos. Lead the design process from initial sketches to polished final deliverables.

  • Brand Stewardship: Uphold and evolve our visual identity, ensuring a cohesive and innovative presence across all projects and platforms.

  • Team Collaboration: Partner closely with the Creative Director, Copywriters, and Production teams to create holistic, cohesive campaigns that blend narrative and visual elements seamlessly.

  • Project Oversight: Review and refine all creative assets, ensuring they meet our standards for quality and innovation. Provide hands‑on support in key projects as needed (e.g., deck building for proposals).

  • Client Engagement: Communicate visual ideas clearly and persuasively to clients, fostering trust and enthusiasm. Serve as a creative advocate, inspiring clients to embrace bold design solutions.

  • Account Growth: Build lasting relationships with clients to drive repeat business and increase account value. Identify and capitalize on upsell opportunities by understanding client needs and presenting innovative ideas.

  • Trend‑Savvy Design: Stay on top of design, social, and cultural trends to inform and elevate our creative output, incorporating new technologies, including GenAI tools.

  • Mentorship: Provide guidance and mentorship to junior team members, fostering a culture of growth and innovation.

  • Production Collaboration: Work closely with production teams to ensure design assets are adaptable for various formats and platforms, including social media, digital, and film.


What you need to be great in this role



  • 8+ years of experience in creative and art direction or related roles, ideally within a creative agency.

  • A strong portfolio showcasing a wide range of work, including campaigns, digital assets, and film production.

  • Proven ability to conceptualize and execute visually impactful ideas that resonate with diverse audiences.

  • Expert knowledge of design software (Adobe Creative Suite, etc.) and familiarity with motion graphics and video editing tools is a plus.

  • Strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to inspire and gain buy‑in from clients and teams.

  • Experience managing and mentoring junior creatives, fostering collaboration and creative excellence.

  • An understanding of narrative, social‑first content, and experience creating visuals optimized for digital platforms.

  • A flexible, problem‑solving mindset with a passion for innovation, technological advancement, and creative exploration.

  • At the time of this posting, the base salary for this position may range from $114,750.00 CAD to $128,250.00 CAD. Individual compensation varies based on job‑related factors, including location, business needs, level of responsibility, experience, and qualifications. The range listed is just one component of OLIVER’s total compensation package.
