POSITION SUMMARY:


Reporting to the Warehouse Manager, the Warehouse Supervisor is responsible to provide and coordinate of all Warehouse functions and activities for their shift to meet the safety, quality, delivery and cost targets and to foster a working environment that is fair, equitable and driven to continuously improve.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITES:


  • With respect to ensuring Health and Safety/HACCP/5S compliance, the supervisor acts as the “Competent Person” on the Shift, ensuring that all team members are trained and performing in a safe and efficient manner using the appropriate PPE when applicable.
  • Lead accident/incident investigations and submit reports in a timely manner and proactively identify and suggest ways to eliminate hazards.
  • Regularly audit the Warehouse to ensure compliance with policies and procedures and ensure that inspections are appropriately documented including ensuring proper storage of product to prevent damage
  • Management of team members ensuring that all are treated in an equitable manner and uphold the company’s standards of conduct
  • Ensure that each shift is adequately staffed to meet requirements including identifying vacancies and working with the Warehouse Manager to use Temporary labor or recruit and hire as required.
  • Provide support for the night and week-end Team Leads (e.g. Accident/Incident investigations, disciplinary actions, shift coverage).
  • Maintain team member work hours, vacation and absence in Dayforce
  • Identify training opportunities; manage the training plan and keep the Training Matrix up to date.
  • Ensure cross-training and back-up support is adequate and managing the vacation schedule.
  • Manage the Performance Improvement program including: Dealing with issues and providing timely feedback.Maintaining proper notes and documentation of issues and interactions.Providing proper information to Warehouse Manager.Coaching and counselling Team Members as appropriate.
  • Understand shift performance targets and how they contribute to enabling PC&L and Toronto Operations objectives to be met including: Monitor shift performance to ensure targets are being met.Be aware of any significant material or information flow issues arising during the shift and ensure corrective action plans are initiated and executed.Ensure timely response to NCRs including understanding the root cause and establishing corrective action plans.Escalate issues as required.
  • Responsible for smooth shift transitions and providing feedback to previous shift on any issues that does not position your shift for success.
  • Lead weekly Communication Meeting.
  • Collect necessary data and submit daily shift report and responsible for daily audit, and responsible for ensuring proper housekeeping and organization of Warehouse
  • Support and drive Continuous Improvement, identifying improvement opportunities and participating in establishing the performance metrics and the CI program for the Department, including: Sponsor, lead, facilitate or participate in Kaizens.Promote a continuous improvement culture.
  • Must follow food safety and cGMP processes and procedures – training is provided
  • NOTE: This job requires considerable time spent on the shop floor exposed to a noisy environment, and on occasion, driving the forklift/reach truck as needed.

    The incumbent may be required to work non-standard hours due to leadership team meetings, training sessions, projects, product launches, etc.

    SKILLS/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:


    Educational Requirements: Post-secondary education, preferably in Business, or equivalent work experience Minimum Experience/Field: Minimum 5 years of warehouse experience in a fast paced, high volume lean manufacturing environment. Minimum 1-year supervisory experience.

    Experience in plastics and/or food packaging industry preferred Licenses Required: Forklift and Reach truck licenses preferred Computer Skills: Good PC skills including working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and strong excel skills Communication Skills: Proven track record supervising and working with people and problem resolution and strong interpersonal, collaboration skills Additional Education/Experience/Skills: Proven Supervisory ability and ability to motivate and influence others. Detail-orientation with a bias for action and proven ability to deliver results.

    Good understanding of lean concepts and MRP systems
