Role:
The Vice President, Local Sales is a Sales Leadership role responsible for leading the Local Sales teams inclusive of independent business, contracted customers and tendered business), executing on customer service KPI objectives and growing sales while contributing strategically to regional operational efficiency through responsible management and compliance of customer agreements across the Region. The Vice President, Local Sales will foster and lead a high performance team of Sales Management in support of corporate and regional business objectives. The VP of Local Sales sits on the Executive Team for the Region.
Role Responsibilities:
Lead the Local Sales team with an acute focus in respect to performance, priorities, development and attaining sales goals/targets.
Deliver annual sales and piece growth as per set targets.
Develop and maintain rapport and strong partnerships with key Local Customers through maintaining regular communication either in person or by phone, identifying customer needs and providing excellence in customer service.
Act as a key point of customer contact as required.
Support as required the negotiation process for new and renewed customer agreements for Local customers and ensure that key stakeholders are informed in a timely manner.
Ensure contract compliance for all independent, contract and tendered business.
Prepare monthly period end reports and annual budget as it pertains to the Local Sales division.
Work with merchandising to identify new product offerings, specifically Sysco brand and sourced which can contribute to increased margin, increased sales and/or our mission of helping our customers succeed.
Directs and oversees the marketing function.
Researches and develops strategies and plans which identify marketing opportunities to drive market share growth.
Analyzes and evaluates the effectiveness of sales, methods, costs, and results.
Develops and manages sales and marketing budgets.
Establishes and implements short- and long-range goals, objectives, and operating procedures for the Local Sales division.
Represents the company at various community and/or business meetings to promote the company.
Promotes positive relations with partners, vendors, and distributors.
Recommends and administers policies and procedures to enhance operational effectiveness.
Manages all Local Sales Managers and Associates within the Region.
Responsible for a business portfolio surpassing $500M (may be significantly higher dependent on region).
Accountable for the accuracy of timecards, approvals and scheduling of direct reports.
Champion, advocate, sponsor and participate to drive employee engagement.
Complies with Sysco’s Food Safety Policy and procedures to ensure food safety, quality and legality requirements are met.
Understands both the economic and cultural value that a safe organization with minimal environmental impact brings to an organization.
Is willing to drive Environmental, Health and Safety performance by providing necessary resources and holding their team accountable to complying with EHS programs, policies, and requirements.
Positively influence and shape a large and inclusive organizational culture to be one that’s productive, vibrant, and a desirable place to work.
Ability to effectively lead change and transformational initiatives through sound change management practices that will ensure sustained adoption, including stakeholder engagement across multiple functions.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications/Skills/Job Requirements (About you):
7 – 10 years progressive Sales leadership experience.
Fluency in English & French is an asset.
Experience managing a large multi-site business.
Advanced knowledge of core business processes (Customer planning and management, sales and distribution, and financial reporting).
Post Secondary Degree/Diploma in a related or relevant field.
Proven track record in executing business objectives; actively drives performance, solve problems and barriers to execution, and delivers projects through to on-time completion.
Strategic thinking, excellent analytical skills, and possesses extensive knowledge in structured approaches to problem solving, i.e. six sigma, continuous improvement.
Must be business savvy with a high degree of professionalism.
Intermediate expertise with Microsoft Office products.
Experience leveraging CRM Tools.
Valid driver’s license in good standing with access to a vehicle is required.
Daily schedule could include off site visits – customers/event centres etc.
Travel varies based on geographical region. Up to 30% travel is required.
