The Role and Opportunity

The Canadian Mental Health Association is looking for a Transitional Housing Worker for the Home for Good Program. The Home for Good Innovative Housing Program provides on-site residential support and case management services to older adults who are living with mental illness and have experienced long-term homelessness. The Home for Good Innovative Housing Program is partnered with the City of Toronto.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Reporting to the Program Manager, the Transitional Housing Worker work closely with the team in supporting clients and provide crisis intervention. The Transitional Housing Worker will work out of the Broadview Site and be required to work Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 4:00pm.



The Transitional Housing Worker will be required to provide on-site direct service provision and support clients based on their goals. They will orient clients to the programs and services and provide crisis prevention & interventions as needed. The purpose of the Transitional Housing Worker will be to perform residential duties and maintain a safe, clean and secure environment. The Transitional Housing Worker will also be required to maintain trusting, respectful and collaborative working relationships with clients and colleagues; service providers and other community supports.

SKILLS YOU BRING

CMHA Toronto’s ideal candidate will have a minimum college diploma in in Social Work/Social Sciences, Diploma/Certificate in Recreation Therapy, Diploma/Certificate in Life Skills; combination of educational and related work/life experience. The candidate will bring a minimum of two (2) years of experience a working with adults with complex ­­­­mental health and addictions issues; community, homelessness and residential experience considered an asset. The candidate will have a demonstrated knowledge of Concurrent Disorders and the Criminal Justice System as it relates to mental health and skills in Mental Health Assessment and Crisis Intervention.



The candidate will also have strong written and oral communication skills and understanding of recovery principles as they relate to individuals with mental illness. The candidate will bring experience working with diverse communities and the ability to demonstrate a non-homophobic, anti-oppression and anti-racism approach.

Salary Range: $54,124 – $62,733
