Summer Mental Health Worker (SOCIAL WORKER or MENTAL HEALTH SUPPORT WORKER) Position Type: Summer Employment Number of Positions: 20 positions total, up to 50 hours per position Dates: July 2, 2024 to no later than August 31, 2024 Location(s): Board Wide Hourly rate of pay: Social Worker/Mental Health Support Worker – $45/hour Senior Social Worker – $48/hour Posting Number – MHSW Summer – 05 Position Summary Under the direction of the General Manager of Clinical Services, with the clinical supervision of the Chief Social Worker, DPCDSB Social Workers and Mental Health Support Workers will provide summer mental health support to students of the board and work collaboratively with families to promote well-being. The focus of the support will be: responding to emerging needs via the DPCDSB Summer Mental Health Support Line, including individual counselling, consultation with families, and referrals to or liaising with community providers as appropriate; continuity of mental health support for students with elevated needs, including counselling, wrap around and crisis support; and/or, direct mental health support for groups of students using an identity-affirming framework Areas of focus, duties, caseloads and or shifts will be assigned by the Chief Social Worker.

Eligible staff will meet the following criteria: A regulated mental health professional, employed at DPCDSB as: Social Worker, or Mental Health Support Worker Evidence from previous work history of satisfactory job performance, attendance, and punctuality Prior experience working on the Summer Mental Health Line, an asset Have completed mental health training focused on youth well-being, such as CBT and/or other evidence based clinical modalities Crisis intervention skills and suicide intervention training Experience in using anti-oppressive approaches to deliver curriculum and amplify Black and racialized students voice Experience in facilitating student clubs/initiatives for well-being, social justice, and/or equity and inclusion (e.g., YES4MH, GSAs, Black Student Alliance Groups, Student Voice Forums, Mental Health Awareness etc.) Familiarity with community-based organizations offering support for student mental health and well-being, including culturally responsive supports Familiarity with School Mental Health Ontario resources Evidence of strong organizational abilities and record keeping skills Availability Required Availability to work remotely, up to 5-7 hours per week, for July and August, on the Summer Mental Health Line, OR Availability to co-facilitate student mental health groups (in person), up to 20 hours in total, at Holy Name of Mary or Cardinal Ambrozic To be considered for this position please send an e-mail with a letter of interest, fully detailing your experience and qualifications, by 4:00 pm on the closing date of June 14th, 2024 quoting File: MHSW Summer – 05 and Employee number , to: [email protected] We actively encourage applications from members of groups with historical and/or current barriers to equity, including, but not limited to: • First Nations, Métis and Inuit peoples, and all other Indigenous peoples; • members of groups that commonly experience discrimination due to race, ancestry, colour or place of origin; • persons with visible and/or invisible (physical and/or mental) disabilities.
