<h3>Software Engineer, Backend (All Levels / All Teams)</h3><p>Toronto, ON</p><h3>About the Role</h3><p>DoorDash is building the world's most reliable on-demand, logistics engine for delivery. We are expanding rapidly and growing our Engineering teams globally! We are seeking Backend Engineers to develop and maintain a large-scale, 24x7 global infrastructure system that powers DoorDash's marketplace of Consumers, Merchants, and Dashers.</p><p>These roles involve working on both Product and Product Platform teams. Product-focused Engineers will operate backend services, design architecture, and collaborate cross-functionally to solve key business problems with elegant technical solutions, considering the big picture and trade-offs to maximize impact.</p><p>This position is hybrid, requiring some in-office presence, and reports to an Engineering Manager.</p><h3>Responsibilities include:</h3><ol><li>Developing, releasing, and maintaining large-scale web applications</li><li>Designing backend architecture and selecting the appropriate tech stack</li><li>Enhancing performance, reliability, scalability, and security of backend systems</li><li>Transitioning monolithic codebases to microservice architectures</li><li>Addressing technical challenges to innovate in logistics</li></ol><h3>Qualifications:</h3><ol><li>B.S., M.S., or PhD. in Computer Science or related field</li><li>Experience with backend technology stacks</li><li>Skills in analyzing and improving system efficiency, scalability, and stability</li><li>Experience with service-oriented architecture, REST APIs, unit testing, and architectural design</li><li>Understanding of web protocols and architecture (HTTP, REST)</li><li>Proficiency with SQL and NoSQL databases (e.g., Postgres, Redis, Elasticsearch, RabbitMQ)</li></ol><h3>About DoorDash</h3><p>Our mission is to empower local economies.
