Job Summary
The Snow Plow Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient removal of snow and ice from roads, parking lots, and other designated areas. This role is crucial in maintaining accessibility and safety during winter weather conditions. The operator will utilize various snow removal equipment and tools to ensure that all assigned areas are cleared promptly and effectively.
Duties
- Operate snow plow vehicles to clear snow and ice from roadways, driveways, and parking lots.
- Monitor weather conditions and adjust operations accordingly to ensure timely snow removal.
- Perform routine maintenance on snow removal equipment, including checking fluid levels, tires, and mechanical components.
- Utilize hand tools and power tools for additional snow removal tasks as needed.
- Maintain clear communication with dispatch regarding operational status and any issues encountered during snow removal.
- Assist with landscape maintenance tasks during off-season periods, including digging, gardening, irrigating, and building as required.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations while operating machinery and performing maintenance tasks.
Skills
- Strong mechanical knowledge to troubleshoot and maintain equipment effectively.
- Proficient in the use of power tools and hand tools for various maintenance tasks.
- Experience in landscape maintenance is a plus, including skills in digging, gardening, and irrigation.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in challenging weather conditions.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with a focus on safety and efficiency.
- Strong attention to detail to ensure thorough snow removal and equipment upkeep.
This position requires a dedicated individual who can adapt to changing weather conditions while ensuring the safety of the public through effective snow management practices.
Job Types: Part-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 2 days
Pay: $25.00-$30.00 per hour
Expected hours: 8 – 15 per week
