<p><h3>Senior System Engineer – Telesat</h3>

<p>The System Modeling team architects, develops, and maintains the Telesat Lightspeed System Model application, a state‑of‑the‑art engineering software tool running on high‑performance computing (HPC) infrastructure for modeling resource allocation and evaluating end‑to‑end system performance of the Telesat Lightspeed satellite constellation.</p>
<h3>Primary Responsibilities</h3>
<ul>
<li>Develop and test algorithms in MATLAB to enhance Lightspeed system performance and reliability.</li>
<li>Perform detailed performance analysis of the Lightspeed constellation in terms of data throughput, latency, satellite hand‑over, availability, system capacity, and regulatory compliance.</li>
<li>Collaborate with System Modeling, Software Development, Quality Assurance, and System Design teams for integration and testing of algorithms.</li>
<li>Provide technical leadership and guidance to junior engineers in the System Modeling team.</li>
<li>Interface with other Telesat teams regarding satellite payload, ground segment characteristics, performance metrics, evaluations, and regulatory compliance.</li>
<li>Support trade‑off analyses and system architecture evaluations.</li>
<li>Write technical documentation.</li>
<li>Follow Agile software development methodologies.</li>
<li>Ensure code quality through unit testing, refactoring, and adherence to coding standards.</li>
</ul>
<h3>Education & Experience</h3>
<ul>
<li>Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, System Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.</li>
<li>Minimum 5 years of related system design and modeling experience.</li>
<li>Strong background in software development lifecycle.</li>
<li>Experience with MATLAB.</li>
<li>Experience with agile development and CI/CD tools is desirable.</li>
<li>Experience with cluster job managers is desirable.</li>
<li>Knowledge of radio communication systems and/or satellite communication is desirable.</li>
</ul>

<li>Experience in mathematical optimization, including linear programming, is desirable.</li>

<li>An aptitude for and interest in complex technology.</li>
<li>Fluent in English; French is an asset.</li>
</ul>
<p>The successful candidate must be able to work in Canada and obtain clearance under the Canadian Controlled Goods program (CGP).</p>
<h3>Location & Compensation</h3>
<p>Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. Salary range: CA$103,114.00 – CA$139,841.00.</p>
