As we continue to expand, we're looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Senior Purchasing Specialist to join our team at our Markham head office.
What You'll Do
As our Purchasing Specialist, you'll play a key role in sourcing and managing our product assortment. Your responsibilities will include:
- Overseeing the full purchasing cycle for toys, games, collectibles, and specialty merchandise
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with vendors, distributors, and manufacturers
- Negotiating pricing, payment terms, and delivery schedules to maximize profitability
- Monitoring inventory levels and sales trends to plan restocks and new product acquisitions
- Collaborating with merchandising and retail teams to ensure timely product distribution
- Reviewing purchase orders for accuracy and ensuring prompt processing
- Analyzing product performance and lifecycle to guide purchasing decisions
- Tracking shipments and resolving delivery or product discrepancies
- Researching emerging trends, products, and suppliers to expand our offerings
- Coordinating with accounting and warehouse teams on invoicing and receiving
What You Bring
- 4 years of purchasing or buying experience, ideally in retail (experience with toys, collectibles, or pop culture products is a plus)
- Proficiency in NetSuite is required
- Strong negotiation and vendor management skills
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and inventory management systems
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and attention-to-detail capabilities
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- A genuine passion for games, toys, and pop culture is a big plus
