<h3>Overview</h3>
<p>We are managing complex, large-scale commercial projects from conceptual planning through design, construction, and occupancy. The Senior Project Manager/Construction Manager will join our construction management team to collaborate on projects that are technically challenging, impactful, creative, and fulfilling. The PM/CM ensures the success of assigned projects through client engagement, leadership, and team mentorship, focusing on managing project/program activities, expectations, and risk while leading, supporting, and advising clients and staff throughout all stages of the project life cycle.</p>
<h3>Responsibilities</h3>
<ul>
<li>Oversee all services provided by an integrated team, including general program and project management (scheduling, cost controls, risk management, change management, document control, interface management, engineering management, etc.), provide technical support, regulatory and permitting support, technical studies to support planning and design efforts, procurement of design and construction, construction management, operations & maintenance liaison, readiness, community outreach and communications, project and program delivery strategy, funding strategy, and training/knowledge transfer.</li>
<li>Serve as a trusted advisor to the client and work as part of an integrated Client/Consultant Leadership Team.</li>
<li>Pro-actively identify client needs and programmatic initiatives to address potential delivery risks and challenges.</li>
<li>Establish and maintain relationships with government agencies, companies, and the public to ensure quality work and stakeholder interests are addressed.</li>
<li>Ensure that assigned projects are built safely, on time, within budget, and to required construction standards and specifications.</li>
<li>Work with independence in a fast-paced environment, using sound judgment and timely responses.</li>
<li>Oversee activities related to stakeholder deliverables, contract administration, change orders, submittals, procurement, project financial projections, and schedule requirements to ensure projects are completed with quality, within budget, and in governance with safety culture.</li>
<li>Assist owners/clients with program execution, addressing strategy and delivery challenges, and supporting internal client departments as required. Oversee implementation of program delivery procedures and confirm performance against objectives.</li>
<li>Understand and work with Stantec technical systems and business processes.</li>
<li>Manage diverse capital projects of varying size and complexity across Stantec sectors.</li>
<li>Provide coaching, mentoring, and leadership in support of PM/CM leadership and staff.</li>
<li>Engage with clients to obtain feedback on performance and raise the team’s profile in the industry.</li>
<li>Assist with developing the annual business plan and budget for the team; lead major project pursuits with other senior staff.</li>
<li>Support team engagement and morale and assist in resource management, recruitment, and succession planning.</li>
<li>Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and the HSE management system on assigned projects.</li>
</ul>
<h3>Qualifications</h3>
<ul>
<li>Specialized project management skills with experience organizing, planning, and executing public and private projects from pursuit through closeout, involving internal personnel, contractors, and vendors.</li>
<li>Excellent verbal and written communication skills to convey program and project delivery needs to clients and formulate those needs into comprehensive proposals.</li>
<li>Strong organizational skills and ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.</li>
<li>Technical understanding of large infrastructure, organizations, and processes.</li>
<li>Leads with proven experience in team direction, strategy development, change management, and corporate stewardship.</li>
<li>Knowledge of construction methods and contracting processes; ability to analyze technical issues and deliver cost-effective client value.</li>
<li>Ability to manage stakeholders with clear and persuasive communication and strong interpersonal skills.</li>
<li>Detail-oriented, dependable, and able to perform under deadlines; adaptable to dynamic project environments.</li>
<li>Identifies project risks and mitigates them timely; able to work with clients, internal teams, and contractors.</li>
<li>Strong computer literacy in scheduling, word processing, presentations, and spreadsheets; budget management experience.</li>
<li>Understanding of design and construction processes and requirements; familiarity with plans, contracts, and specifications.</li>
<li>Willingness to travel to local and out-of-province project sites and client offices as required.</li>
</ul>
<h3>Education and Experience</h3>
<ul>
<li>Minimum 15 years of relevant experience in project management/construction management, preferably on large engineering, design, and construction projects.</li>
<li>Bachelor’s degree in engineering or sciences; Civil technology diploma plus related experience in Construction Management or equivalent; a master’s degree is an asset.</li>
<li>Significant experience leading complex, multi-year highway construction projects; experience in contracts development and Quality Management Systems.</li>
<li>Experience resolving issues with contractors, consultants, stakeholders, and outside agencies; managing multi-million dollar budgets; and leading staff and resources.</li>
<li>P.Eng, PMP certification or equivalent designation would be an asset.</li>
</ul>
