Department Overview
The Wealth Investment Office team (WIO) is TD Wealth’s source for investment strategy.

We empower advisors and portfolio managers across TD Bank Group’s Wealth Management division – including Financial Planning, Private Investment Advice and Private Investment Counsel – by giving them the knowledge and tools they need to execute a scalable and consistent approach to portfolio management. WIO is a place for professionals who love to manage money and get excited about the opportunity to consult with others on how to build and manage investment portfolios.

This is not a place for people stuck in neutral. WIO is a dynamic, multifaceted, multi-channel group working on numerous priorities and initiatives in a fast-paced environment.
The group provides holistic investment advice, portfolio construction counsel and guidance across a broad range of investment methodologies including traditional, endowment and risk-aware allocations.

WIO is the engine behind the Risk Priority Portfolios and the investment manager behind the TD Core Fixed Income ETF Portfolio, Core Canadian Corporate Bond Ladder Portfolio, Core Asset Allocation ETF Portfolio and Core Managed Equity Portfolios In addition, WIO plays a role in the education and ongoing support of TD Wealth advisors through numerous internal and client-facing publications, as well as presentations, seminars and one-on-one communications to advisors.



Job Description
The Senior Fixed Income Analyst, Managed Investments, will assist the Chief Wealth Strategist and Head of the Investment Team in expanding the managed investments platform at TD Wealth, specifically by becoming the subject-matter expert on fixed-income investments. Using TD Wealth’s existing philosophy, strategy and tactics, the Senior Fixed Income Analyst will assist with the management of model portfolios, respond to advisor inquiries as it relates to fixed income, and publish thought-leadership pieces covering the fixed-income landscape.

The Senior Fixed Income Analyst will also establish and maintain relationships with proprietary and third-party portfolio management firms to keep abreast of the fixed-income landscape and to share intelligence with members of the team. The Senior Fixed Income Analyst will be a member of the Investment Management Committee and will be expected to contribute to the effective management of the firm’s model portfolios by monitoring the universe of fixed-income investments and contributing new ideas that may improve the portfolios’ risk-adjusted returns.

Position Summary
The successful candidate will:
• Be passionate about and have a keen understanding of global fixed-income markets and investment strategies.

Knowledge of the key Canadian and global fixed-income managers is a strong asset;
• Have a robust understanding of the fixed income return and risk decomposition and translating that into fixed income portfolio construction and risk management;
• Be passionate about portfolio management with a strong desire to work with investment professionals to design, build and manage industry leading portfolios; will directly contribute to the management and administration of the firm’s guided portfolios;
• Contribute to publications and conference calls relating to the fixed-income market;
• Understand the TD Wealth Risk Priority Management philosophy, strategy and tactics and how they can be leveraged to create an efficient modeled book;
• Have direct experience working with investment advisors, portfolio managers and financial planners and understand the business dynamics, structure and goals of our professional advice channels;
• Participate in advisor training, coaching and branch presentations as required;
• Support WIO initiatives that may not be directly related to managed investments.



Requirements
• Strong knowledge of fixed-income instruments, investment strategies and markets. Minimum three years of experience analyzing or supporting the management of fixed-income securities;
• Expert knowledge of the Morningstar Direct and Excel software suites; working knowledge of Bloomberg and/or FactSet an asset;
• Strong communication skills, both oral and written, with ability to articulate all aspects of fixed-income management and return drivers to an audience with different levels of sophistication;
• Strong relationship-management skills required to interact with external and internal portfolio management firms;
• CFA Charterholder or candidate an asset;
• Previous experience as a fund analyst or investment consultant an asset.
