<p><h3>Overview</h3><p>Senior Electrical Distribution Engineer</p><p>This is a candidate pool entry for a Senior Electrical Distribution Engineer based in Western Canada, with potential postings across Vancouver, Kelowna, Calgary, Edmonton, Regina, GTA, Montreal area or Quebec City area. The role provides technical expertise for electrical distribution infrastructure (poles, wires, vaults, duct banks, and cables) in accordance with client standards, engineering principles, guidelines, policies, and safety standards. The position is based in Vancouver or other major centers and supports a growing project portfolio.</p><h3>Primary Responsibilities</h3><ul><li>Support the efficient and effective day-to-day operation of the distribution team from response to service requests to project delivery</li><li>Develop design work packages with scope, schedule and effort estimates</li><li>Resolve design and field engineering problems by conducting independent studies and analysis, exercising independent judgment in selecting and interpreting information, and recommending safe engineering designs to support operations and project completion</li><li>Deliver exceptional customer service by communicating with stakeholders and performing activities such as defining the scope of Distribution engineering services, establishing basic design criteria with the client, approving technical documentation, and assessing and reporting on work progress against standards, objectives, and specifications to support safe, quality, on-time, and within-budget project completion</li><li>Provide specialized expertise in Distribution and actively mentor, coach, and set high standards for work performance, influencing standards, frameworks, and targets for junior team members</li><li>Suggest process improvements and innovative modifications to enhance work processes, guidelines, instructions, procedures and standards where possible</li><li>Design overhead line structures and associated facilities for voltages up to 35kV in an electric utility environment, including equipment supports/foundations, termination structures, manholes/vaults, and duct banks</li></ul><h3>Qualifications</h3><ul><li>10+ years of experience in an engineering role with specific Distribution knowledge, ideally within British Columbia</li><li>P.Eng designation or eligible to become a P.Eng with EGBC</li><li>Experience working with utilities in Western Canada</li><li>Expertise in overhead and underground electric utility distribution systems operating at voltages up to 35kV, and in related electrical, mechanical, civil, and operating requirements</li><li>Strong communication skills to articulate technical options and present solutions to diverse audiences</li><li>Familiarity with GIS, CAD systems and drawing standards</li><li>Ability to use design/analysis software such as SPIDAcalc and PLS-CAD</li><li>Ability to work with remote partners and team members; maintain effective working relationships with clients and colleagues</li><li>Willingness to travel occasionally (mostly within Western Canada)</li></ul><p>The expected salary for this position is from CA$105,440 to CA$140,000, depending on candidate experience, training, skills, and internal equity.
