Senior Accountant

Our client is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Senior Accountant to support financial operations across its Canadian and U.S. divisions. This role is responsible for full-cycle accounting, financial reporting, compliance, and cross-functional collaboration in a fast-paced, multi-entity environment. The successful candidate will bring strong technical accounting skills, experience in public practice or multi-entity businesses, and a collaborative mindset to help scale operations and improve financial processes.

Your success will be defined by your ability to:

  • Manage end-to-end accounting processes, including journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations
  • Prepare comprehensive month-end and year-end financial reports, including supporting documentation for external audits
  • Submit GST/PST filings and ensure adherence to Canadian tax laws
  • Maintain and update capital asset records, applying depreciation methods accurately
  • Generate internal financial reports on a monthly and quarterly basis for management review
  • Contribute to budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis activities
  • Supervise accounts payable and receivable functions to ensure timely transactions
  • Work closely with internal departments to ensure proper expense allocation and coding
  • Review payroll and multi-currency transactions across various provinces on a bi-weekly basis
  • Identify opportunities for process optimization and implement efficiency improvements
  • Guide and mentor junior accounting staff while participating in cross-functional projects
Your strengths include:
  • Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • 3-5 years of progressive accounting experience in a dynamic or multi-entity environment
  • 3-5 years of experience in public practice or accounting firms
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software
  • Experience with QuickBooks (Desktop and Online) and Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central (an asset)
  • Strong understanding of Canadian tax regulations (GST/PST)
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Comfortable working independently and collaboratively
