INTRODUCTION:
Commissionaires Great Lakes (CGL) is a private, not-for-profit organization founded in 1925 on a mandate that prioritizes providing meaningful employment for veterans and others committed to the well being of Canadians primarily in security guard and related services. Spanning Central and Southwestern Ontario, our services are customized to respond to the dynamic and evolving security needs of both private and public sector clients. These include uniformed guard, mobile response and support services, by-law enforcement and identification services.
We are currently seeking a Commissionaire to join our growing team. This posting is for an existing vacancy.

WHAT OUR EXCEPTIONAL COMMISSIONAIRES ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR:
- Attending the Metrolinx Rail Maintenance Facility and occupying the Security office post during the specified hours of Operation, as well as patrolling the premises on foot and by vehicle;
- Security guard must be alert at ALL times and be physically fit to the extent that they are capable of conducting foot patrols, negotiating stairs, climbing ladders and performing other duties;
- Performing reception/inquiry duties, by answering phone calls, taking messages, and relaying and acting upon them as required and defined in the Post Orders or site-specific training by Metrolinx;
- G2/G licence required. Driving around moving trains
- When authorized, receive, keep safe and hand over to appropriate persons, mail and packages;
- Monitoring and activating Metrolinx’s security systems, including the Access Control System and CCTV;
- Ensure all persons entering the facility sign Visitor’s log on arrival and departure;
- Ensure no loitering or soliciting take place in the building, All persons present in the building without good cause shall be politely asked to leave and such person will be escorted out of the building. Commissionaire will request assistance from Metrolinx, including direction to contact local police, for all problem situations as prescribed in the site-specific instructions (Post Orders). All incidents are to be reported;
- Conduct patrols on premised according to the Post Orders;
- If an alarm sounds (fire panic and emergency assistance), security guard to follow Post Orders or site-specific instructions provided by Metrolinx, use critical thinking skills and perform emergency management if required;
- Security guard must assist in fire drills as required;
- No security guard shall be unfit for duty while working, through the consumption of alcohol or drugs;
- All security guards will keep accurate and detail notes/daily logs regarding incidents, observations and action taken while performing their duties and will be required to create, log and process incident reports for all unusual or unexpected events as required. Copies of these notes and reports shall be provided to Metrolinx upon request and/or as specified by Metrolinx in the site Post Orders; and
- Other duties as may be required by the client or Regional Manager
WE ARE EXCITED FOR YOU TO OFFER US:
- Ontario Secondary School Diploma
- *MUST* Ontario Security Guard License
- *MUST* Valid First Aid and CPR certificate
- *MUST* have a full G license
- Ability to stand/sit/walk for long periods of time
- Able to multi-task and work well with little to no supervision

- Rate of Pay: $18.00 per hour
- Working Hours: Rotating 0700-1500; 1500-2300; 2300-0700 (weekdays) ;2300-1100 and 1100-2300 (weekends)
- Location: 125 Judson Street, Etobicoke, Ontario
