Full job description
POSITION PURPOSE
To provide satisfaction to the guest through the cleanest and most comfortable room possible.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Removal of service trays to assigned area.
- Ensure lights are working properly.
- Emptying of all garbage cans.
- Wash out waste bins.
- Removal of dirty linen from bed as well as bathroom and place into linen bag.
- Allow beds to air before placing new sheets & checking for any stains or damaged linen.
- Make beds according to once around bed procedure, dust wardrobe, rod and shelf with damp cloth.
- Dust and spot clean picture frames and glass.
- Dust head boards.
- Dust/spot clean night tables, inside and outside.
- Dust and spot clean dresser, wipe drawers inside, wipe top, sides, front, knobs and legs of dresser and clean mirror.
- Turn in any items left by guests in check out rooms.
- Clean entire ice bucket and dry when finished.
- Clean fluorescent light with cloth (bulb should not be hot).
- Spray toilet with all purpose cleaner, under rim, in the bowl, etc.
- Cleaning of tiles surrounding bath tub.
- Spot cleaning of ceiling.
- Cleaning of shower curtain and curtain rod.
- Cleaning of bathtub.
- Clean behind toilet.
- Clean towel holder.
- Clean sink and vanity area.
- Clean mirror.
- Spot clean bathroom door, door knob and robe hook.
- Replenish guest supplies (soap, shampoo, etc.).
- Clean bathroom floor.
- Switch off lights in bathroom and leave door open.
- Wipe over party table, base and top.
- Clean upholstery, use vacuum cleaner or damp cloth.
- Dust chair legs, back and arms.
- Dust and spot clean air conditioner and inside switch.
- Dust and spot clean window frames.
- Spot clean window glass and walls.
- Dust and spot clean television screen, top, back, cord and stand.
- Clean telephone, paying special attention to ear and mouth piece.
- Other duties as required.
OTHER
- Maintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance as per Royal Equator Standards
- Report any unsafe conditions immediately using maintenance request forms.
- Follow all company policies and procedures with regards to Health & Safety.
- Work in compliance with the Occupational Health & Safety and its regulations.
- Have a thorough knowledge of all fire and safety procedures and equipment (fire extinguishers) in the event a situation occurs.
- Maintain security for guests and property by keeping room doors locked at all times; reporting any suspicious activity by guests or others; properly labelling lost and found articles and turning them in; observing all other security and safety regulations.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Past experience as a Room Attendant or similar job would be a definite asset.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
It is necessary for room attendants to have a good command of the English language, both written and spoken, which would assist in any contact made with guests. Other languages could prove to be an asset.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Aside from the occasional guest, the work environment of the Room Attendant involves minimal exposure to other people. The main environment that one would be subjected to is the guest-room, meaning that a high level of responsibility is placed upon the Room Attendant.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Must be able to bend, stoop, squat and stretch to fulfil cleaning and inspection tasks.
- Must be able to lift several times during their shift.
- Walking and standing required for the most part of their day.
- Most work tasks are performed indoors. Temperature is moderate and controlled by hotel environment.
- Must be able to push and pull carts and equipment
- Requires grasping, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, listening and hearing ability and visual acuity.
- Requires manual dexterity to use and operate all necessary equipment.
- Talking and listening occurs continuously in the process of communicating with guests and supervisors.
