Position

Brief Summary: The Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) plays a pivotal role in the delivery of resident-centered care within our long-term care home. The RPN is responsible for the delivery of daily resident care and resident safety and is as a member of the multi-disciplinary team.

Essential Job Functions (point form):

•Complete individual resident assessments to develop the Resident Care Plan. Evaluate and update plans as required

•Observe, measure, document and report vital signs and changes in the resident's physical, mental and/or emotional condition

•Give direction to Personal Support Workers (PSW) pertaining to resident care issues on the Unit in collaboration with the Nurse Manager

Qualifications

Required Education:

•Baccalaureate degree in Nursing is required

•Registered Practical Nurse (in good standing) with the College of Nurses of Ontario

Experience:

•Six months to one-year experience in a Long-Term Care setting is considered an asset

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

•Organizational skills to manage timetables and responsibilities

•Ability to exercise good judgment, tact and diplomacy

•Empathetic attitude and desire to contribute towards the well-being of seniors

•Written and verbal communication skills related to the position

•Good interpersonal skills

•Ability to work independently and with others including team members, residents, families, volunteers and other employees
