Summary
Addictions and Mental Health Ontario (AMHO) is seeking a Quality Improvement (QI) and Data Coach to deliver the Excellence through Quality Improvement Project (E-QIP) supports and services to providers across the mental health and addictions sector. This is a full-time contract position ending on March 31, 2026 with the possibility for extension subject to ongoing provincial funding for E-QIP. This role also provides the incumbent with the opportunity to work remotely with flexibility to attend occasional in person meetings at the AMHO office and visit member sites.
Since 2016, E-QIP has been supporting the mental health and addictions sector to improve client care through quality improvement activities. The Project is funded by the Mental Health and Addictions Centre of Excellence at Ontario Health and delivered collaboratively by AMHO and the Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA), Ontario Division
The overarching objectives of E-QIP are to support the mental health and addiction sector by:
· Increasing Quality Improvement (QI) adoption, capacity, and culture.
· Increasing uptake of standardized tools and use of data for decision making and planning.
· In collaboration with Ontario Health, incorporate QI methodology into the development and roll out of provincial programs and initiatives.
About the Organization
Addictions and Mental Health Ontario (AMHO) represents over 150 organizations that provide front line substance use, addiction, and mental health support and services. AMHO members support Ontarians through their mental health and substance use health challenges by providing community-based treatment, including counselling, structured psychotherapy, case management, withdrawal management, live-in addicitons treatment, peer support, harm reduction supports, and supportive housing.

About the Opportunity
Reporting to the Director, Policy, Quality and System Transformation at AMHO, QI coaches develop and deliver supports related to QI models/frameworks (for example, the Model for Improvement), practices, methods, tools, change ideas, and policies to mental health and addictions (MHA) providers. Coaches also work with MHA providers to build measurement and data analytic capacity, specifically for the purposes of quality improvement. Activities include assessment of data, using data to identify gaps in quality, development of measurement plans and process and outcome indicators, analysis of results, and linking local and system measurement.
QI Coaches play an important role in creating connections and alignments across projects and organizations, managing multiple projects simultaneously, and leading knowledge transfer activities.
Key Responsibilities
· Provide QI and data literacy coaching to providers across the MHA sector through a range of E-QIP offerings, including 1:1 coaching, consultations, communities of practice, and webinars.
· Serve as knowledge broker by connecting MHA providers and organizations to best practices, resources, and tools.
· Facilitate problem-solving and assist in developing QI knowledge and skills.
· Guide and advise organizations in the use of measurement for QI to support the assessment, analysis and communication of data, and development of indicators.
· Develop, plan and deliver curriculum for a range of QI and data literarcy offerings.
· Facilitate adoption and implementation of best practices, and support organizational leaders in change management.
· Support QI projects/initiatives via online QI collaborative platform.
· Ongoing assessment of organizational QI implementation status.
· Other duties and activities as required.
Qualifications and Experience
· Graduate degree with a focus on health care quality, evaluation and performance, public health, epidemiology, statistics, information management, or a related field OR a minimum of 3 years’ experience in a coaching/leadership role focused on quality improvement, decision support, or accreditation.
· Experience in the MHA sector, broader community and social services sector OR advanced knowledge of the MHA sector in Ontario.
· Experience with common data collection tools in the MHA sector.
· Knowledge of the provincial-level priorities and transformational strategies in the Ontario health care sector, including relevant legislation, policies, and directives.
· Knowledge with current QI literature, methodologies, and practices (e.g., Quadruple Aim).
· Understanding of key concepts and measurement related to health equity and the social determinants of health.
· Experience leading accreditation in a community agency OR experience as an accreditation surveyor an asset.
· Experience managing projects and multiple tasks within established timelines, in a cross-functional team environment.
· Ability to work effectively in a range of settings with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
· Strong coaching/teaching and group facilitation skills.
· Superior communications and problem solving skills.
· Bilingualism (French/English) is an asset.
