Production Supervisor

We are hiring a Production Supervisor in Scarborough. The Production Supervisor reports to the Operations Manager and leads a production team to meet targets while ensuring smooth processes and team performance. They provide daily direction, training, and support, collaborating closely with lead hands and cell leaders. Key responsibilities include supervising workflow, maintaining safety standards, and optimizing efficiency in their assigned area. The role also manages performance, handles disciplinary matters, and oversees scheduling, including vacations and time off.

Duties:

  • Oversee team operations to achieve labor cost efficiency goals.
  • Supervise production staff to uphold quality benchmarks.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and objectives.
  • Conduct thorough investigations of workplace incidents, ensuring proper documentation, follow-up actions, and return-to-work processes are in place.
  • Monitor and document production outputs, prepare daily reports, address variances, and provide updates for morning meetings.
  • Implement cost-control strategies and work to reduce production waste and scrap.
  • Guide and support staff through regular department walkthroughs, addressing concerns, and escalating critical issues to senior leadership or HR.
  • Manage recruitment processes, including interviewing and selecting new team members as needed.
  • Track attendance, address absenteeism, and resolve related issues.
  • Communicate significant workforce or labor relations matters to the Operations Manager.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Experience as a laborer or in sheet metal work, particularly in related divisions, is highly desirable.
  • Proven leadership skills with 3-5 years of experience in a supervisory or lead-hand role, including expertise in 5S, lean manufacturing, and corrective actions.
  • A proactive mindset focused on continuous improvement.
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize and plan tasks effectively.
  • Excellent decision-making, critical thinking, and multitasking abilities.
  • Capability to handle stress and adapt to fast-paced, high-demand, or variable work environments.
  • Proficient in computer use and technology applications.
  • Demonstrated commitment to following safe work practices.
  • Effective team collaboration and strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Familiarity with material requirements planning systems is an advantage.
  • Experience working with ERP systems (e.g., Oracle).
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills.

Working Conditions:


  • Working in manufacturing environment (Noise, temperature variations, powered equipment, etc.)
  • Working with continuous deadlines, multiple demands, and interruptions
  • Wearing required personal protective equipment (Safety Glasses, steel toe footwear and hearing protection)

Shifts Available:
Days: Monday Friday
Afternoons: Monday -Friday


Pay:

  • Starting at $80,000.00 -$85,000.00 / annually with benefit package (dental, health)
