The Role
The Principles Integration Specialist works closely with the Chief Community Officer to build, develop, and strengthen YNCU’s Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) practices in alignment with the organization’s purpose of building financial well-being together.

As an ESG subject matter expert, the Principles Integration Specialist provides advice and guidance to integrate ESG responsibility into all areas of the credit union.



This position also assists the Chief Community Officer with YNCU’s community investment programs, and builds community relationships including, but not limited to, charitable organizations, community chamber organizations, and strategic partnerships. To support geographic reach, the Principles Integration Specialist partners with Marketing, and Retail Excellence in regards to event planning, and execution.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:


Advises on emerging Environmental Social Governance (ESG) industry trends, frameworks, regulations, and best practices to help inform and develop social responsibility strategy and tactics including:

o Analyse and identify gaps, risks, and opportunities;


o Develop frameworks and guidelines; and

o develop new or update current policies and processes.


Using social responsibility frameworks, in partnership with Human Resources, helps advance Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) objectives across YNCU.

Recommends the adoption of disclosures material to our business to minimize risk, and enhance our reputation as a purpose-driven organization.


Work with cross-functional teams and act as a liaison between groups to lead projects from conception to completion to deliver on YNCU’s Purpose and Principle goals.

Leads the delivery of YNCU’s community investment programs and strategy for annual grants, student awards, sponsorships & donations, and impact partnerships.


Supports execution, and promotes employee engagement of the Good Neighbours program.

Manages community partnerships including Chambers of Commerce, and Charitable Organizations.


Guides discussions with corporate and branch staff to make recommendations on large impact partnerships maximizing community impact and business opportunity for YNCU.

Responsible for ensuring inquires from community partners and staff are responded to in a timely manner.


Partners with internal colleagues to design, plan and execute marketing and communication plans related to Community Investment programs and ESG initiatives.

Partners with Marketing to coordinate the presentation of major gifts to partner organizations.


As subject matter expert, drafts content for internal and external communications.

Builds connections and community partnerships to enhance the presence of YNCU in all communities.


Act as the main contact for potential sponsorships

Undertakes self-improvement training and education to remain current and continually improve competence.


Performs other duties as required

What we are looking for


Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Marketing, Business, Communications, or related field

Sustainability and ESG education or experience considered an asset


4-5 years of related practical experience

Understanding of CASL and AODA compliance requirements


Strong knowledge of financial services industry

Must have a valid Ontario driver’s licence and reliable available vehicle
