Hamilton ETFs is one of Canada’s fastest growing exchange traded fund (“ETF”) providers. Based in Toronto’s financial district and with $6 billion in ETF assets under management, we are seeking a motivated individual to join our entrepreneurial team of experienced and talented professionals.   



What you will do as Portfolio Manager, Options Strategy: 


The Portfolio Manager will be an integral member of our options portfolio management and trading team. The incumbent, working under our Chief Options Strategist, will assist in the management and trading for the options program for our firm’s growing suite of covered call ETFs. You will: 



Strategy/Portfolio Management/Trading:

  • Assist in the management of the covered call strategy for each ETF according to its mandate; 
  • Actively monitor and analyze market conditions to identify opportunities to add value within each ETF’s mandate; 
  • Coordinate the execution of the strategies with the trading team and executing brokers; 
  • Work closely with the portfolio management & trading teams on the execution of the covered call strategy for each ETF according to its mandate; 
  • Prepare daily reports to summarize key developments in portfolio holdings for the broader portfolio management team;  
  • Review trade activity and report on key developments, and recommend action to improve trade execution and/or portfolio performance; 
  • Interact with internal ETF operations team, and 3rd-party service providers (e.g., executing brokers, market makers, exchanges, custodians) as needed, to resolve option trade-related issues; 
  • Mentor/train junior members of the portfolio management and trading team in options strategies; 
  • Draft semi-annual and annual commentaries for the ETFs’ Management Report of Financial Performance; 
  • Product development: Assist the product development team, as needed, in testing new, innovative ideas using option strategies; 
  • Sales & Marketing Support: Assist with the preparation of client communications relating to the firm’s covered call strategies to help build client interest and understanding of our covered call ETF suite; 
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned for the overall benefit of Hamilton ETFs 

Here’s what you’ll need to be successful: 


  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, math or a related field;  
  • Professional designation in finance (e.g., CFA); 
  • Minimum 5 years experience with option strategies in a professional environment; understanding of options pricing, particularly Canadian and U.S. equities; 
  • Strong understanding of equity fundamentals for Canadian and U.S. equities;  
  • Familiarity with the operations of an ETF business; 
  • Expert proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel; 
  • Proficiency with Bloomberg; 
  • Strong technical and analytical skills; 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; 
  • Exceptional organizational skills with impeccable attention to detail and accuracy; 
  • Self starter with an ability to work in an environment with firm deadlines and high pressure;  
  • A team-oriented mindset, with an interest and aptitude to add value outside of core responsibilities; 
  • Able to maintain a high level of integrity and discretion in handling confidential information; 
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and occasional weekends 

Other skills/experience that would be considered assets: 

  • Registration as an Advising Representative (Portfolio Manager) with the Ontario Securities Commission; 
  • Experience working with various portfolio management, order management, and trade execution systems; 
  • Programming skills (i.e., Python, VBA); 
  • Recommendations for excellent movies and TV shows
