However, please know that we always put ourselves in the candidate's shoes to ensure they have the best possible experience. We look forward to meeting you!
Job description
We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented OT Connectivity Specialist to join our team in Whitby. In this role, you will support and improve Operational Technology (OT) systems in a regulated manufacturing environment, collaborating closely with IT, Automation/Engineering, and Quality teams.
You will design, integrate, and sustain reliable and secure industrial connectivity aligned with ISA-95/Purdue and GAMP principles. This position is ideal for a hands‑on professional who thrives on solving complex connectivity challenges, ensuring system reliability, and promoting best practices in cybersecurity and data integrity.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement and sustain OT network segments and data flows across ISA‑95 levels, including defining rules/changes and coordinating with Networking and Security teams (segmentation, firewalls, VLANs).
- Facilitate secure integrations between shop‑floor systems and enterprise platforms (e.g., MES/EBR, LIMS), supporting OPC UA–based connectivity and data transfer needs.
- Troubleshoot OT connectivity and system issues end‑to‑end (from device to switch to server/application), ensuring timely resolution with vendors and internal teams.
- Maintain up‑to‑date network and data‑flow diagrams, access control lists, and change records, contributing to SOPs and as‑built documentation.
- Follow site processes for demand intake, architecture reviews, change control, and validation support in line with GxP and risk‑based methodologies.
- Support lifecycle and obsolescence planning, CMDB accuracy, and risk mitigation activities for upgrades and new implementations.
- Promote secure‑by‑design practices and coordinate patching/maintenance windows with CIS/Security, Automation, and Operations teams.
Requirements
Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in OT/industrial IT or control systems support within a regulated manufacturing environment (pharma/GMP preferred).
- Solid understanding of OT networking principles (segmentation, VLANs, firewalls/ACLs, ports/protocols) and fundamentals of Windows/AD/virtualization.
- Familiarity with ISA‑95/Purdue models, GAMP, 21 CFR Part 11, ALCOA+, and validation/change control concepts.
- Practical experience with industrial connectivity (e.g., OPC UA, data collectors/gateways) and system/data‑flow documentation.
- Strong troubleshooting, incident coordination, and vendor management skills, with excellent communication abilities (written and verbal).
Preferred Skills
- Knowledge of laboratory systems and analytical platforms (LAC/E, FTIR, CDS, Raman, or similar).
- Exposure to MES/EBR/LIMS integrations, serialization, thin‑client environments, and OT monitoring tools (e.g., anomaly detection).
- Experience with integration platforms (e.g., Kepware) and basic understanding of PLC/HMI/SCADA operations.
- Familiarity with virtualization, backup concepts, and CMDB/asset inventory maintenance for OT systems.
- Previous involvement in IQ/OQ/PQ activities from an infrastructure or connectivity perspective.

- An environment where trust is central: 70% of our leaders started their careers at the entry level.
- A strong training system with our internal Academy and more than 250 modules available.
