<h3>Job Description</h3><p>Job Description<p><strong>Position Summary:</strong><p>The Registered Nurse in Obstetrics provides specialized care to patients throughout the childbirth continuum, including labor, delivery, postpartum, and perinatal care. This role involves working in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment to support mothers, newborns, and families during one of life’s most significant experiences.</p><strong>Key Responsibilities:</strong><ul><li>Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients in labor, delivery, and postpartum stages.</li><li>Monitor maternal and fetal vital signs, labor progression, and respond to complications.</li><li>Administer medications, pain management interventions, and assist with epidurals and inductions.</li><li>Support and coach patients through labor and delivery, offering emotional and physical care.</li><li>Assist physicians and midwives during deliveries, including cesarean sections and emergency procedures.</li><li>Provide immediate newborn care, including APGAR scoring and neonatal resuscitation if required.</li><li>Educate patients and families on postpartum recovery, breastfeeding, and newborn care.</li><li>Maintain accurate documentation and ensure compliance with clinical protocols.</li><li>Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including obstetricians, pediatricians, anesthesiologists, and social workers.</li></ul><strong>Qualifications:</strong><ul><li>Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or equivalent.</li><li>Current registration with the <strong>BC College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM)</strong>.</li><li>Minimum 1–2 years of experience in obstetrics, labor & delivery, or perinatal nursing preferred.</li><li>Certification in: <ul><li><strong>Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)</strong></li><li><strong>Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)</strong></li><li><strong>Fetal Health Surveillance (FHS)</strong></li><li><strong>Inpatient Obstetric Nursing (RNC-OB)</strong> – preferred</li></ul></li><li>Strong clinical judgment, communication, and critical thinking skills.</li><li>Ability to work effectively in high-pressure, emotionally charged situations.</li></ul>Speciatly training: perinatal specialty, FHS, NRP. Orientation: 1 shift. Shifts: 0700-1900 & 1900-0700.</p></p>
