<p><h3>Overview</h3><p>Nurse 2 - Palliative Care at Winnipeg Regional Health Authority (WRHA), based at Riverview Health Centre in Winnipeg, MB.</p><p>Posting details: Requisition ID 388277; Position Number 20055529; Posting End Date: September 17, 2025; FTE 0.80; Anticipated Shift: Days; Nights; Work Arrangement: In Person; Daily Hours Worked: 7.75; Annual Base Hours: 2015.</p><h3>Position Overview</h3><p>Under the general supervision of the Manager, Health Services, the Registered Nurse provides professional registered nursing services for patients/residents/clients with complex and unpredictable health needs. This includes independent nursing services, administration of prescribed medical treatments, fulfilling a leadership role within the interdisciplinary health care team, coordinating patient/resident/client care and discharge, and participating in professional growth and development activities. The Registered Nurse demonstrates a commitment to the mission, vision, values, goals and objectives of the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority and Riverview Health Centre.</p><h3>Responsibilities</h3><ul><li>Provide professional registered nursing services to patients/residents/clients with complex needs.</li><li>Lead within the interdisciplinary health care team and facilitate coordination of care and discharge planning.</li><li>Administer prescribed medical treatments in accordance with standards and policies.</li><li>Engage in professional growth and development activities.</li><li>Adhere to the organization’s mission, vision, values, and objectives.</li></ul><h3>Experience</h3><ul><li>Experience in the clinical area applied for is an asset.</li></ul><h3>Education</h3><ul><li>Graduate of an approved education program conferring the designation “Graduate Nurse”.</li><li>Specialty training related to the clinical area applied for or willingness to complete same within a defined period of time as related to the program of study.</li><li>CNA certification in a specialty related to the assigned clinical area preferred.</li></ul><h3>Certification/Licensure/Registration</h3><ul><li>Active registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba (CRNM).</li><li>Active participation in professional associations (e.g., Association of Regulated Nurses of Manitoba) preferred.</li><li>BLS/CPR training as required by Employer policy.</li></ul><h3>Qualifications and Skills</h3><ul><li>Knowledge of:</li><ul><li>CRNM Standards of Practice for Registered Nurses</li><li>Canadian Nurses Association Code of Ethics for Registered Nurses</li><li>RHPA scope of practice; regional/facility policies and guidelines</li><li>Nursing care knowledge related to the clinical area</li><li>PHIA, Protection of Persons in Care Act, Mental Health Act, WHMIS, Universal Precautions, and other legislated acts</li><li>Roles and responsibilities of healthcare team members; principles of delegation</li></ul><li>Demonstrated effective oral and written communication skills</li><li>Indigenous language competence or knowledge of Indigenous customs (preferred)</li><li>Critical thinking and problem-solving skills</li><li>Ability to prioritize and manage multiple patient needs and demands</li><li>Ability to function independently and as part of a team</li><li>Adaptability to changing situations and high-pressure environments</li><li>Proficiency with computers and common software (Windows, word processing, spreadsheets, databases)</li></ul><h3>Physical Requirements</h3><p>Not Applicable</p><h3>Additional Information</h3><p>This term position may end earlier as outlined in the collective agreement. A current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check, and Adult Abuse Registry Check are conditions of employment. Service charges incurred for checks are the responsibility of the successful candidate. A security check is current if obtained within six (6) months prior to the start date. An employee may not hold two or more positions across the WRHA legal entity that sum to more than 1.0 EFT. The WRHA legal entity includes multiple sites and programs.
