MEDICAL ONCOLOGIST LOCUM, St. Joseph’s Health Centre, Unity Health Toronto

Unity Health Toronto, St Joseph’s Health Centre site in Toronto is inviting applications for a Clinical Associate position in the Division of Oncology/Hematology to provide Locum coverage between Sept. 1, 2024-April 1, 2025.

This is a 1.0 FTE ONT MOA APP funded-position.



The ideal candidate will have an interest in a community-based general Medical Oncology practice. An interest in education, and/or quality improvement would be an asset but is not required.

The successful candidate will join a highly collegial team of two medical oncologists. The position would ideally involve treatment of GU, GI and lung malignancies but this is flexible.

Call coverage includes the oncology consult service; an oncology hospitalist provides MRP coverage both on weekdays and weekends. The in-patient service is also supported by an oncology social worker and dietitian.

The outpatient clinic is supported by a dedicated group of pharmacists, knowledgeable oncology NP, oncology-focused nursing staff and an exemplary administrative team. There is no expectation of participating in internal medicine on-call coverage.

The candidate must possess exemplary clinical skills and professionalism, with evidence of excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills.

There are ample opportunities for medical education and clinical trial participation. The oncology program is supported by an oncology clinical trials nurse.



The successful candidate must be proficient in English and be eligible for an academic appointment at the University of Toronto at the rank of Lecturer or higher.Certification by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada as well as licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario is a requirement.Candidates must have Canadian Medical Protective Association coverage or equivalent in good standing.
