<p><h3>Overview</h3><p>The Medical Leader, Quality Physician at Mission Memorial Hospital is a leadership role to provide direction to physicians and other health care providers on quality and patient safety initiatives. The aim is to improve quality and support the reduction of medical/health care errors that contribute to adverse patient outcomes at each acute care site. You will work with fellow physician leaders and other clinical staff to promote physician engagement and capacity building in quality improvement, and will collaborate with senior leadership and staff to identify evidence-based strategies to ensure best practice at the site.</p><p><b>Job Summary</b> The Quality Physician Medical Leader role is a new opportunity to lead quality and patient safety initiatives at the acute care site, collaborating with the Clinical Quality and Patient Safety department, senior leadership, department leaders, regional leaders and support systems.</p><p><b>Overview</b> The Medical Leader is a physician who champions a culture of safety in clinical service delivery and establishes evidence-based patient care models to increase patient safety at their acute care site. The role reports to the Executive Medical Director, Clinical Quality and Patient Safety, and is part of the Leadership team including the Regional Medical Director/Regional Department Head, Local Department Heads, and other Medical Leads.</p><p>The position dedicates approximately seven hours per month to leadership activities, including partnering with the local Process Improvement coordinator, reviewing patient safety reports, identifying quality improvement projects, attending quarterly Patient Safety Priorities Update meetings, producing semi-annual quality project outcome reports, providing monthly status updates to site leadership, and presenting to the HQOMC every three months. Hours are flexible; evening meetings and travel may be required. The position is for one year.</p><p><b>Key Areas of Involvement</b> Include providing local site leadership to physicians and other health care providers on quality and patient safety initiatives.</p><ul><li>Serve as a lead or advisor for physician-driven quality improvement projects and initiatives.</li><li>Collaborate with the clinical quality and patient safety department, senior leadership, department leaders, regional leaders and support systems to establish evidence-based patient care models that increase patient safety.</li><li>Identify quality improvement learning needs and participate in educational activities to develop physician skills in clinical quality and patient safety.</li><li>Facilitate physician participation in patient safety activities.</li></ul><p><b>Support physician-related quality reviews</b> and critical incident reviews:</p><ul><li>Promote a Just safety culture and model open and honest communication among physicians and the healthcare team.</li><li>Provide expertise to critical incident/quality review processes through identifying recommendations and follow-up actions.</li></ul><p><b>Decision-making and strategic planning</b> for quality improvement and patient safety at the local hospital:</p><ul><li>Analyze patient safety indicators and recommend strategies to leadership to improve clinical quality and patient safety.</li><li>Provide clinical representation and input at site quality committee meetings.</li></ul><p><b>Compensation</b><br/>Stipend</p><p><b>Qualifications</b><br/>Active Privileges, CMPA, CPSBC Full</p><p><b>Location</b><br/>Mission Memorial Hospital</p><p><b>About Fraser Health</b></p><p>Fraser Health is the health care provider for over two million people in Metro Vancouver and the Fraser Valley in British Columbia, Canada.
