Position Summary

The Manager of Controls Engineering will lead a team of Operational Technology (OT) controls experts to ensure the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of OT and control systems at the facility. The Manager emphasizes Asset Restoration Planning and Resilience, prioritizes OT Cybersecurity, and provides the Subject Matter Expert (SME) support required for the Project Delivery and Infrastructure teams.



Key Accountabilities:

  • Oversee the development or integration of existing 5-year Restoration Programs to improve the performance, maintainability, resilience, redundancy, and safety of airport control systems.
  • Manage the OT Cybersecurity Program, including the creation and implementation of both short-term and long-term Cybersecurity Roadmaps.
  • Review and validate program assumptions, conduct risk analyses, revise fiscal assessments, and address issues through alternative solutions, error corrections, or omissions.
  • Direct the Controls Engineering Team in delivering tasks that align with business objectives and priorities, ensuring quality engineering designs and specifications for all control systems at the facility.
  • Validate and refine documented business, technical, and project requirements related to the synthesis, selection, and implementation of control system solutions.
  • Provide innovative engineering solutions to enhance passenger safety and service by improving ease, safety, resilience, and redundancy in airport and control systems.
  • Ensure effective collaboration between IT and OT, continuously defining roles and responsibilities for optimal system delineation.
  • Lead the Controls Engineering Team, comprising both employees and contracted services, to deliver high-quality customer service, engineering expertise, and technical advice to clients within budget and schedule.
  • Develop and maintain policies and standards related to control systems.
  • Lead and mentor team members by offering coaching, guidance, and feedback for personal and career development.


Qualifications:

  • Possess a post-secondary degree in Engineering from a recognized Canadian institution or have a combination of relevant education and professional experience.
  • Have over 8 years of combined work experience and education in engineering and project management.
  • Preference is given to candidates who are designated Professional Engineers by Professional Engineers Ontario.
  • Have more than 8 years of practical experience in fields such as Mechanical or Electrical Engineering and Project Management.
  • Have at least 3 years of experience in managing people, either as direct reports or in a multi-functional capacity.
  • Proven experience in a customer-focused environment.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain Transportation Security Clearance at the required level for the position.
