<p>Local Department Head - Psychiatry, Mental Health and Substance Use Program - Abbotsford Regional Hospital and Cancer Centre</p>
<h3>Job Summary</h3>
<p>We are seeking to fill the Local Department Head of Psychiatry, Mental Health and Substance Use Program position which provides overall professional practice leadership and direction to the members of a professional medical discipline/department within the Abbotsford Regional Hospital and Cancer Centre (ARHCC) community, and the Abbotsford Mental Health Centre. The successful candidate will have lead responsibility for the maintenance of medical and ethical standards of practice and ensures activities of the Department are consistent with the FH MHSU program priorities and directions. Reporting and accountable to the Regional Department Head (RDH) and as a member of the ARHCC medical staff, they will work as a team player with colleagues and co-workers in identifying service delivery models and processes to ensure seamless integration of services within acute care, community care and primary care, while maintaining system sustainability.</p>
<h3>Responsibilities</h3>
<ul>
<li>Participate in the Multidisciplinary Healthcare Coordinating Committee for the facility</li>
<li>Participate in the Department of Psychiatry operations committee meeting</li>
<li>Function as the channel of communication to and from the Regional Department to keep Members practicing within the facility informed regarding FHA, HAMAC and Departmental objectives, policies and general activities and to ensure Regional Departments are aware of issues specific to the facility</li>
<li>Ensure the requirements of programs operating within the facility are coordinated</li>
<li>Maintain regular communication with operational leaders and Physician Leads within the department of community mental health teams</li>
<li>Attend the MHSU regional meetings</li>
<li>Monitor and optimize key mental health performance indicators</li>
<li>Oversee a program of quality monitoring</li>
<li>Ensure continuous adequate medical staffing in both hospital and community mental health team programs</li>
<li>Review applications for privileging and make recommendations regarding the granting of privileges to physicians</li>
<li>Manage physician compensation budget, in collaboration with the program manager(s) for the Abbotsford Regional Hospital and Community mental health teams</li>
<li>Promote health and wellness amongst Members</li>
<li>Investigate complaints regarding care provided by Members within the Department at the Facility under the direction of the appropriate Regional Department Head(s)</li>
<li>Encourage a healthy, respectful workplace</li>
<li>Review with the Regional Department Head the human resource requirements of the Regional Department practicing within the facility</li>
<li>Contribute to the search and selection of applicants for vacancies in the Regional Department</li>
</ul>
<h3>Qualifications</h3>
<ul>
<li>Have current licensure with CPSBC and current CMPA coverage</li>
<li>Have FRCPC in Psychiatry or FRCPC eligible</li>
<li>Be an active Medical staff member of Abbotsford Regional Hospital and Cancer Centre (ARHCC) and the Fraser Health Authority Mental Health and Substance Use Program</li>
<li>Have demonstrated commitment to ongoing learning and professional development</li>
</ul>
