Reporting to the Line Supervisor, the Line Cook is a key part of our culinary team, you will bring your enthusiasm and passion for preparing high quality foods in a "Food Safe" environment. The Line Cook is responsible for ensuring to prepare food that meets our service standards while adhering to Glenmore Inn policies and procedures while on shift. Responsible for the preparation of meals in accordance with established menus and practices of the Glenmore Inn.

Shifts: Saturday - Wednesday; 1:00pm - 9:00pm or 2:30pm - 10:30pm

Specific Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Ensure all culinary/kitchen standards are followed in a consistent professional manner while on shift.
  • Display, and develop a "guest comes first" attitude while on shift.
  • Assist with all food production for the Garden Court, Carving Board Café, Elbow Room and Banquet functions in accordance with standards and recipes issued by the Executive Chef and Sous Chefs.
  • Follow all established sanitation protocols and provincial Food Safe regulations while on shift
  • Control portioning of menu items to ensure recipe yield meets assigned quantity quotas
  • Evaluates meals being served to ensure established standards of quality and quantity are maintained
  • Tests food/menu items prior to service for palatability and temperature and adjusts accordingly
  • Ensure menu items are presented as established by the Executive & Sous Chefs
  • Follow proper food stock rotation in storage; minimizing spoilage and waste
  • Responsible for maintaining a clean and sanitary work station
  • Complete daily, weekly, and monthly task lists and cleaning schedules
  • Ensure accuracy and attention to detail while on shift
  • Handle guest complaints and issues in a timely, and professional manner; report concerns as needed to the Line Supervisor and/or Sous Chefs
  • To aid the F&B front of house team with ensuring timely service for our guests. Participate in pre-shift meetings with Culinary & F&B staff
  • Follow all required Health and Safety policies, and maintain a safe work environment
  • Communicate with other departments in a professional manner
  • Maintain a high level of professionalism throughout all the hotels F&B outlets

Qualifications:

  • Previous restaurant experience required
  • Culinary degree or diploma an asset.
  • Proven attention to detail.
  • Must possess excellent communication and guest service skills.
  • Strong organizational, and time management skills needed
  • CPR, First Aid, certification an asset.
  • Must be able to frequently lift, carry and move equipment and other items up to 50lbs independently, and greater than 50lbs with assistance
  • Ability to work frequently in tight quarters or with various physical constraints; requiring prolonged kneeling, bending and standing
  • Knowledge of and the ability to use various common kitchen tools and equipment

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
