Infrastructure Project Manager – MUST HAVE AZURE CLOUD

Apex Systems is a global IT services provider and our staffing practice has an opening for an Infrastructure Project Manager with experience working with Cloud, specifically with Azure to place at our client, a top Canadian Bank

Client: A top Canadian Bank

Terms: 12 months with possibility to extend

Location Hybrid- 1-2 days onsite- Downtown

JOB DESCRIPTION

• Initiate, plan, execute, control and close project(s) of a tactical nature, with an emphasis on managing project dependencies.

Incorporating project management standards, processes and procedures in support of continuous improvement activities.



• Manage team relationships. Provide performance feedback and coaching to project and program team members.

• Act as business liaison partner with business sponsor and stakeholders to develop the business case, and provide input on tactical direction.


• Participate in vendor evaluation and selection process by providing recommendations based on subject matter expertise.

• Must ensure projects for which they are responsible meet the requirements of our client’s standards, policies, and procedures.


• Must ensure that all necessary risk assessments and risk assessment processes are carried out at the appropriate time (Architecture, Governance, Security Threat Risk Assessment, Operational Gating).

• Application Delivery Process – Knowledge of major tasks, deliverables, formal methodologies and disciplines for delivering new or enhanced applications.


• Work Experience – Business Case Justification – Knowledge of approaches, tools and techniques for justifying a project, equipment or staffing expenditures by identifying cost, benefits, opportunities and threats.

• Basic Understanding – Product and Vendor Evaluation- Knowledge of process for evaluation and selection of products, tools, services and infrastructure components in line with organization’s business needs and architectural principles.


• CONTACTS – Portfolio/Cross portfolio senior executives in Business and Technology.

This includes all levels of Project Management. This also deals with vendors and vendor management.

JOB COMPLEXITIES/CHALLENGES:


• Analyzing and interpreting project data, including across inter related projects in a program, to determine the status of the project and actions required to address areas of concern; analyzing business problems to provide tactical direction to resolve these problems using technology and/or the project at hand; analyzing vendor responses and change request analysis data to determine recommendations and impacts on projects prior to determining / recommending action related to issue at hand and whether to include in project or not.

• Analyzing business problem and possible alternative solutions given the technical standards of our client’s and make recommendation to sponsor/management; analyzing possible risks and recommend mitigation approach from a number of possible choices, often creating new options with input from team members; analyzing a number of vendor RFPs to determine the pros/cons and risks involved and make recommendation on choice and mitigations to contain risks to management.


• Ensuring projects for which they are responsible meet the requirements of our Client’s standards, policy and procedures; that all necessary risk assessments and risk assessment processes are carried out at the appropriate time including Architecture Governance, Security Threat Risk Assessment, and Operational Gating.

• Continually reviewing and monitoring identified risks for program/complex project(s) to ensure mitigation plan is still most appropriate, re-evaluating and adjusting as required; as change requests are defined reviewing possible impacts, as well as estimates, to determine viability of considering inclusion in program and risk of doing, communicate recommendations to senior management.


• Planning resource capacity for project(s)/program to work with business/technology management to assure continued feasibility of their projects as planned from a resource capacity perspective; controlling and evaluating project mitigation decisions and change recommendations to meet program/project delivery with required quality; ensuring appropriate balance of project time/cost/quality to meet promised project delivery while adhering to portfolio and our Client’s standards.

• Analyzing change, impact and recommends actions and /or alternatives, analyzing risks and recommends mitigation decisions


• Managing impact of change on project/program budget.

• Assignment of resources and allocation across the work.


• Projects up to 50 indirectly supervised, in a matrix environment but could exceed this.

This includes highly technical/specialized including in project management, all levels.
