This position is predominantly remote, with some on-site presence required for key meetings, team events, or specific business needs. This stand-alone role combines strategic HR leadership with practical, day-to-day execution. The ideal candidate will be able to think big picture while also rolling up their sleeves to implement and manage all aspects of HR operations, including payroll, recruitment, HR systems, and employee engagement. This position is ideal for a professional who thrives in a dynamic environment, has strong business acumen, and enjoys building and improving HR infrastructure in a fast-paced, growing organization, while maintaining flexibility in their work schedule.</p><p>Detailed Responsibilities:</p><p>Payroll & HR Systems</p><ul><li>Administer payroll using Payworks, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timeliness.</li><li>Maintain payroll reporting and related compliance filings.</li><li>Manage HRIS systems (BrightHR) including data integrity, reporting, and optimization.</li></ul><p>Recruitment & Workforce Planning</p><ul><li>Lead end-to-end recruitment, with a focus on technical and specialized roles.</li><li>Develop and execute manpower planning strategies to align with business growth.</li><li>Build and maintain a strong employer brand to attract top talent.</li></ul><p>Employee Lifecycle Management</p><ul><li>Oversee full-cycle onboarding and off-boarding, ensuring a positive and compliant experience.</li><li>Develop, document, and update HR policies, procedures, and employee handbooks.</li><li>Support performance management processes, coaching managers as needed.</li></ul><p>Culture, Engagement & Development</p><ul><li>Drive culture-building initiatives to foster engagement, retention, and high performance.</li><li>Partner with leadership on strategic HR planning to support organizational growth.</li><li>Develop and implement training and development programs aligned with business needs.</li></ul><p>Compliance & Employee Relations</p><ul><li>Ensure compliance with applicable employment legislation (ESA, OHSA, Human Rights, etc.).</li><li>Provide guidance and support on employee relations matters, conflict resolution, and disciplinary processes.</li><li>Manage workplace health, safety, and wellness initiatives.</li></ul><p>Strategic HR Leadership</p><ul><li>Deliver HR analytics and general reporting to guide leadership decision-making.</li><li>Contribute to organizational design and succession planning.</li><li>Act as a trusted advisor to leadership on HR best practices, talent strategies, and workforce optimization.</li></ul><p>Qualifications:</p><ul><li>Education:<br> Post-secondary degree, diploma, or professional certification in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field. CHRP/CHRL designation (or working toward) is an asset.</li><li>Experience:<br> Minimum 5 years of progressive HR experience, ideally in a stand-alone, fractional, or generalist role with exposure to both strategic and tactical HR.</li><li>Systems Knowledge:<br> Hands-on experience with Payworks payroll and BrightHR (or similar HRIS).
