This position is a maternity leave replacement and is anticipated to be a 16 months contract assignment. Compensation will be based on relevant experience for the role.

The ROLE

1. HR Policy, Compliance & Legislative Guidance

  • Advise on legislated requirements and ensure HR policies and practices remain compliant.
  • Develop and update HR policies and procedures.
  • Maintain HR due diligence and liability controls.
  • Monitor trends impacting HR practices and recommend adjustments.

2. Talent Acquisition & Workforce Planning

  • Lead full-cycle recruitment, including sourcing, screening, and shortlisting.
  • Prepare employment agreements and conduct background and reference checks.
  • Support strategies for effective recruitment, onboarding, and staff retention.

3. Employee Relations, Coaching & Culture Development

  • Provide confidential coaching on performance, conflict resolution, engagement, and cultural issues.
  • Support disability and attendance management practices.
  • Contribute to culture initiatives through surveys, evaluations, and issue identification.
  • Recommend practices that support a positive, inclusive organizational climate.

4. Training & Development

  • Coordinate mandatory legislative training assignments and track completion.
  • Support employee learning initiatives, including skills development and role-specific training.
  • Identify training needs and recommend opportunities for staff and leadership development.

5. Payroll, Benefits & HR Administration

  • Manage payroll-related employee data and coordinate with payroll administration.
  • Administer employee benefits, including enrollments, changes, and terminations.
  • Address payroll and benefits inquiries accurately and efficiently.

6. HR Systems, Processes & Data Management

  • Oversee HRIS use, optimization, and vendor or plan changes.
  • Streamline and automate HR processes.
  • Support ERP transitions and ensure data accuracy and smooth workflows.

7. Health, Safety & Risk Management

  • Support the Joint Health and Safety Committee.
  • Promote staff and client safety through adherence to policies and incident reporting.
  • Ensure HR practices align with organizational risk management standards.

8. Strategic HR Support & Community Engagement

  • Engage in HR networks to stay current with best practices and emerging trends.
  • Conduct research to inform HR strategy and planning.
  • Provide guidance on HR services and recommend service improvements.

9. Commitment to Client-Centered Care & Organizational Values

  • Uphold organizational values of respect, collaboration, and service planning.
  • Support consistent, high-quality client-centered practices across HR functions.



Who Were Looking For

You bring a solid foundation in Human Resources and are confident working across the full employee life cycle. You have:

  • Post-secondary education in Human Resources Management or a related field.
  • Certification such as JHSC and/or CHRP
    (an asset).
  • At least 5 years of progressive HR experience; advantage if you have non-profit sector.
  • A strong working knowledge of Ontario HR legislation, including the ESA, OHSA, WSIA, and the Human Rights Code.
  • The ability to work effectively in an inclusive, diverse, and fast-paced environment.
  • You are someone who thrives in a role where accuracy, confidentiality, and professionalism are essential, and where relationships with staff, managers, and partners are built on trust and support.
