<h3>Job Description</h3><p>Job Description<p><p><strong>Scope of Position:</strong></p><p>Under the supervision and direction of the Supervisor, Support Services and as a member of the multidisciplinary care team, to provide a clean, sanitary and safe environment ensuring Residents, staff, families and visitors are provided with quality housekeeping services. To maintain, wash, launder, alter and repair linen and personal clothing in a clean and neat condition, ensuring Residents are provided with quality laundry service and to conduct the admission / discharge and transfer process for Residents’ personal items.</p><p><strong>Position Description:</strong></p><ul><li>Undertake housekeeping tasks in Resident rooms, hallways, bathrooms, tub rooms, dining areas, storage areas, lounges, offices, lunch rooms, kitchens and service areas throughout the home</li><li>Undertake cleaning and sanitizing of all areas of the home on a routine basis (including floor and project cleaning), including watering of plants and flowers</li><li>Conduct housekeeping supply inventory control procedures, stock carts when needed, stock home areas as required</li><li>Clean work areas, including floors, equipment and work carts on a daily basis to keep equipment in a clean and orderly fashion</li><li>Use detergents, chemicals, germicides, and other cleaning supplies in a safe manner; wear personal protective equipment as instructed and use safe work practices</li><li>Undertake laundry procedures (gather, sort, wash, dry, inspect, fold and distribute) for both Resident personal items and home linen</li><li>Conduct the admission / discharge / transfer process as related to Resident belongings (labelling, safety inspections, etc.)</li><li>Adhere to infection control policies, procedures, protocols, routine and additional practices as required</li><li>Orientate new staff and student placements as required</li><li>Participate as a team member in providing Resident centered care and service</li><li>Undertake all duties and responsibilities in compliance with Health and Safety standards, guidelines and legislation, including compliance with Public Health standards and Ministry of Long-Term Care regulations and other relevant legislation </li><li>Participate in in-service educational opportunities</li><li>Maintain an awareness (at all times) of emergency procedures; participate in drills and associated educational opportunities</li><li>Be aware of and comply with all Corporate and home policies and procedures</li><li>Confidentiality is of extreme importance and must always be maintained</li><li>Occasionally may be directed to assist co-workers in tasks not directly related to this position</li><li>Perform other duties as assigned</li></ul><p><strong>Requirements</strong></p><p><strong>Knowledge and Experience:</strong></p><ul><li>Grade 12 graduation or equivalent</li><li>Environmental Services for Frontline Staff Course or willing to complete prior to start date in the role</li><li>Experience in a long term care home housekeeping setting would be considered an asset</li></ul><p><strong>Skills and Abilities: </strong></p><ul><li>Resident and Customer focus </li><li>Good communication skills (both oral and written)</li><li>Good interpersonal skills</li><li>Proven ability to interact with elderly Residents</li><li>Ability to operate telephone system, industrial cleaning equipment and operate housekeeping machinery.</li><li>Valid Ontario driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle</li><li>Computer expertise in corporate standard software (Microsoft Office) and department specific software to data search and entry and to create and modify word processed documents</li><li>Must be aware of safe work practices as they relate to job responsibilities and work environment, and have the basic understanding of the Occupational Health and Safety Act</li></ul><p><strong>Benefits</strong></p><p><strong>Posting #:</strong> SEIU 25.25</p><p><strong>Position:</strong> <span >Housekeeping/Laundry</span> Aide</p><p><strong>Status:</strong> Permanent Part Time</p><p><strong>Number of Vacancies:</strong> 2</p><p><strong>Employee Group: </strong>SEIU 1 Canada</p><p><strong>Salary:</strong> $25.925 - $26.685 per hour (2024 rate) ($1 less per hour for probationary period)</p><p><strong>Division:</strong> Emergency and Social Services</p><p><strong>Department: </strong>Norview Lodge</p><p><strong>Reports To: </strong>Supervisor, Support Services</p><p><strong>Location:</strong> Norview Lodge, Simcoe</p><p><strong>Posting Period: </strong>September 18, 2025 - October 2, 2025</p><p>Follow the link below for the application process through Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge:</p><ul><li>Ensure the file extension for your resume document is .doc, .docx or .pdf </li><li>If you are electing to include a cover letter, the cover letter and resume must be uploaded as 1 file.</li></ul><p>The Corporation of Norfolk County is an equal opportunity employer.
