Job Description
<p><h3>Overview</h3><p>The West Coast General Hospital (WCGH) is seeking physicians to join our Community Hospital Inpatient Physician (CHIP) team. Full time or part time positions are available. The CHIP team provides MRP care for unattached and unassigned inpatients to the Family Practice service, including rounding, arranging service transfers and inter-facility repatriations, discharge planning, and responding to urgent calls for admitted patients under this service. Attendance and participation at the daily structured team report and in-person or virtual handovers at discharge to patients\' primary community practitioners are required to support the allied teams in the hospital and in the community.</p>
<p>Physicians in this role provide consult services to on-site ambulatory clinics (including Medical Day Care) and offer virtual outreach consult services to rural health sites and rural and remote Indigenous communities. Participating physicians collectively provide on-site MRP services every day between 0700-2200, 52 weeks of the year, including statutory holidays. The scheduled afternoon/evening physician focuses on new unassigned and unattached admissions through the ED, completes patient rounding and end-of-day stabilization, and responds to urgent, non-code calls for patients admitted to the site. Weekdays 1700-2200, the physician covers all inpatients with FPs as MRP (not applicable to patients with specialists as MRP). Weekdays/weekends/holidays 1700-2200, the physician will respond to NH calls if the Primary Care Physician cannot be reached.</p>
<h3>Responsibilities</h3>
<ul>
<li>Act as MRP for inpatients under the Family Practice service at WCGH, including rounding, discharge planning, arranging service transfers, and inter-facility repatriations.</li>
<li>Support admissions flow and discharges via daily team reports; conduct in-person or virtual handovers at discharge to patients\' primary community practitioners.</li>
<li>Provide consult services to on-site ambulatory clinics and offer virtual outreach consults to rural health sites and Indigenous communities.</li>
<li>Provide on-site MRP services daily 0700-2200, 52 weeks/year, including holidays.</li>
<li>In the afternoon/evening, focus on new unassigned/unattached admissions, ED rounding, end-of-day stabilization, and urgent non-code responses.</li>
<li>Respect staffing windows: Weekdays 1700-2200 for MRP coverage with FPs; NH calls when PCP is unavailable.</li>
<li>Evaluate, diagnose, treat, and provide consultation for patients of all ages with a wide variety of illnesses, diseases, injuries, and functional disorders.</li>
<li>Ensure direct and indirect patient care as part of the CHIP team.</li>
<li>Opportunities may include: First call for After-hours OR Assist; MAID physician services; NTP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) services, dependent on training/privileging.</li>

<li>Retention Flat Fee $12,367</li>
<li>Relocation Funding Available up to $15,000</li>
