This is a hybrid role based out of our Mississauga office, combining both home office and on-site work.

Primary Responsibilities:

The Health Outcomes Lead position within the Health Economics and Outcomes Research (HEOR) team will be responsible for providing expert scientific capability and leadership while being accountable for a broad range of health economics and outcomes research activities associated with assigned medicines and vaccines. The Health Outcomes Lead works within a cross-functional team that includes staff from Medical Affairs, Reimbursement, Regulatory, and Marketing. Job responsibilities include:



  • Leading and overall execution of the real-world evidence and outcomes research program to address data gaps relevant to reimbursement submissions, and to the launch of our innovative assets.
  • Lead the health economic strategy of a therapeutic area or brand in collaboration with market access for submission to Canadian reimbursement authorities, and to support pricing negotiations.
  • Leads and oversees the dissemination of research findings through national and international conference presentations and submission of peer reviewed manuscripts within high impact journals.
  • Collaborate with local and global GSK colleagues to define data gaps and develop evidence generation strategies to close these gaps.
  • Provide expert consultation to cross functional team members on study design, statistical analysis, and potential impacts of new research.
  • Support complex decision making and strategic planning across the therapeutic area-specific portfolio.
  • Influence the global research program to address Canadian research needs, where appropriate.
  • Cultivate relationships with external experts in outcomes research and explore ongoing opportunities for collaboration.
  • Advocating for the HEOR resource and data needed to support successful commercialization of products.
  • Being recognized as a trusted partner with medical affairs, market access and commercial.

Details:

  • Provide expert scientific product, epidemiological and cost-effectiveness knowledge and trusted leadership to GSK Canada and global Data Generation networks.
  • Build and leverage high quality scientific and strategic knowledge and expertise across the enterprise.
  • Lead, develop and implement an integrated data generation plan for vaccines and medicines within the assigned portfolio, as well as support junior team members in their activities.
  • Interact with global teams to influence global evidence and model development plans in order to optimize patient access to innovative medicines in Canada.
  • Represent GSK Canada regarding health economic and budget impact models/real-world evidence to reimbursement bodies, researchers, and private and public payers.
  • Cultivate and manage relationships with external consultants and CRO’s for GSK’s real-world evidence and health outcomes projects.
  • Line management of one or more team members as required (dependent on evolving needs of the business).

Desired Qualifications:

  • Masters and/or Ph.D. in a field related to health technology assessment, health economics and outcomes research, epidemiology, public health, health economics, or biostatistics.
  • Demonstrated leadership of epidemiological, health outcomes, or real-world observational research and/or health economic modeling and health technology assessment strategy in Canada.
  • Experience with biostatistical methods, systematic reviews and meta-analyses.
  • Expertise in administrative and other Canadian databases that may be applied to address research questions relevant to GSK would be an asset.
  • Strong ability to leverage scientific knowledge.
  • Demonstrated ability to work as a strategic partner with other functions.
  • Must possess a good understanding of the Canadian healthcare environment.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills.
