Group Facilitator PAR Program

Full-Time Permanent (35 hours/week)



Catholic Family Services of Peel-Dufferin (CFSPD) is a dynamic, growing family service agency serving all areas of Peel and Dufferin. CFSPD is committed to providing a positive work environment for its employees and excellent services to its clients.

The Partner Assault Response (PAR) program is a Domestic Violence Court initiative. Referrals to the

program are received through the criminal court system, and Probation and Parole. The PAR program delivers a specialized community-based group education/counselling to clients who have been

mandated by the court to attend the program in response to a criminal charge involving domestic

violence. The program is funded by the Ministry of the Attorney Generals Ontario Victim Services.

Position Summary

The PAR Group Facilitator is experienced in facilitating group programs and in working with diverse populations through an intersectional, trauma-informed, anti-oppressive lens. The incumbent has a solid understanding of domestic violence, and its impacts on the victim, the perpetrator, and family as well as other factors and/or issues that create additional barriers to healthy relationships. They should also have knowledge of the principles and practices of counseling, social work, and group facilitation. The Group Facilitator reports to the Program Supervisor

Responsibilities:

Group Facilitation and Client Support

  • Facilitate group programs and ensure program curriculum objectives are adhered to.
  • Manage group dynamics and provide crisis intervention with individual clients if necessary.
  • Provide supportive, remote and/or individual clients enrolled in the program.
  • Refer clients to appropriate agency programs, other professionals, agencies, services, or community resources as needed.
  • Facilitating in person groups and/or individual sessions on Saturdays as required.
  • Supporting the Navigators term by completing intakes, covering groups and responding to individual client needs as required.



Administration

  • Prepare, compile, submit, and maintain accurate records, files, statistics, and additional relevant information in accordance with agency policies, and funding requirements.
  • Keep complete and accurate records, complete client session notes and group attendance records, update database, and share information with the administration team in a timely manner.



Other

  • Participate in agency fundraising activities as deemed appropriate and necessary by Management
  • Attend required agency activities and meetings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in social work, Community College Diploma or related human service field and two (2) years of relevant work experience (group facilitation, counselling, providing psychoeducation, family and intimate partner violence) preferred.
  • Registered member in good standing / or eligible to register with the Ontario College of Registered Social Workers and Social Service Workers or the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario, or other regulated professional body, is required.
  • Experience working with men who use violence in their intimate partner relationships is an asset.
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of counseling, social work, and group facilitation.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience working with diverse populations through an intersectional, trauma-informed, anti-oppressive lens.
  • Ability to work with individuals who experience mental health, homelessness and substance use / abuse challenges through a harm reduction, trauma informed lens.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience utilizing crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques; Crisis Prevention / intervention training is an asset.
  • Computer and virtual service delivery literacy and database management skills are essential.
  • Independent and self-directed with the capability of knowing when to seek supervision appropriately and in a timely manner.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, leadership capacity and an ability to build relationships within a diverse community.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities.
  • Fluency in another language is an asset.
  • Ability and flexibility to work a minimum of two evenings per week.
  • A satisfactory Sector Screening Check.
  • Valid Ontario drivers licence and an access to a reliable vehicle is a must.



Working Conditions

  • This is an in person position with some opportunity to work virtually.
  • Work evening shifts and Saturdays.
  • Group room set up and clean up.
  • Preparing for group material.
  • Lifting and moving of light weight furniture (tables chairs, snack carts) might be required. Travel will be required to attend meetings, groups, presentations, workshops, trainings, events etc.
