General Production Worker – Cleaner

Job Description

The steel tank cleaner’s role involves meticulous cleaning, sanitizing, and maintenance of various industrial tanks to ensure their optimal functionality and safety.

Responsibilities

• Perform cleaning operations by cleaning tanks and vessels according to company procedures, utilizing appropriate equipment and chemicals.
• Effectively remove residue and contaminants from tanks using tools like high-pressure water jets, shovels, squeegees, brooms, scrapers, hoses, water, and solvents.
• Operate industrial cleaning equipment such as pressure washers, air compressors, and various types of cleaning nozzles.
• Use appropriate cleaning agents like alkaline or acidic detergents and follow safety protocols for handling and storage.
• Inspect tanks for damage, leaks, or contamination and report any findings to supervisors.
• Assist with maintenance and minor repairs of tanks, including tasks like disassembling and reassembling tank accessories.
• Maintain accurate records of all cleaning, disinfection, and inspection activities.
• Strictly follow safety protocols and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) such as hard hats, eye protection, gloves, and respirators.
• Clean tank interiors, often requiring entry into confined spaces, which necessitates following strict safety procedures and possibly requiring confined space entry certification.
• Dispose of waste materials in accordance with regulations.
• Ensure all cleaning procedures comply with safety and environmental regulations.

Essential Skills

• Ability to read blueprints.
• Proficient in using power tools and hand tools.
• Experience in assembly, including electrical and mechanical assembly.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience in cleaning industrial facilities.
• Experience working in a manufacturing environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in cleaning steel tanks.
• Forklift operation.
• Overhead crane operation.

Why Work Here?

Eligible for profit sharing after 1 year with the company, with the time on contract counting towards the 1 year. Profit sharing will equal 10%, adding approximately $10,000 per year into an RRSP account. The environment boasts very high ceilings and is well-lit, with a friendly team and supportive supervisors.

Work Environment

The work environment is a medium-sized manufacturing company with six assembly work stations, eight welding cells, a paint booth, and an epoxy mold department that houses over ten machines. The facility spans over 200,000 square feet and is very clean with bright lighting. One position is available for straight days from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Brampton, Ontario.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 – $21.00/hr.
