Full job description

Key Responsibilities:

· Food Preparation Assistance:

o Assist chefs and cooks with basic food prep tasks, such as washing, peeling, chopping, and dicing vegetables or fruits.

o Prepare ingredients for cooking, such as marinating, portioning, and measuring.

o Help with portioning out pre-prepared ingredients for dishes.

o Assist in preparing simple items like salads, sides, or sauces under the supervision of the kitchen team.

o Follow recipes and instructions to ensure consistency and quality of prepared ingredients.

· Kitchen Cleanliness & Organization:

o Maintain cleanliness and orderliness in the kitchen by washing dishes, utensils, pots, pans, and other kitchen equipment.

o Keep countertops, floors, and workstations sanitized and free from debris.

o Empty trash and recycling bins and ensure proper waste disposal according to health and safety guidelines.

o Clean and sanitize kitchen equipment, ovens, refrigerators, and storage areas as required.

o Assist in organizing dry and refrigerated storage areas and ensure that food is stored properly to avoid contamination.

· Support During Food Service:

o Assist with the delivery of dishes to the dining area, if required.

o Help chefs and cooks with assembling or plating dishes for service.

o Ensure that kitchen tools and equipment are easily accessible for chefs during service hours.

o Maintain a fast pace while assisting in the preparation and cleaning during busy hours.

· Stocking & Inventory:

o Help with stocking ingredients and supplies as they are delivered, ensuring proper rotation (FIFO – First In, First Out).

o Keep inventory of supplies, report any shortages or expired items to the kitchen manager.

o Assist in the receiving and storing of food deliveries, ensuring they meet the restaurant’s quality standards.

· Food Safety & Hygiene:

o Ensure that all food safety and hygiene regulations are strictly followed in the kitchen.

o Use appropriate cleaning products and methods to sanitize kitchen surfaces.

o Follow proper food handling techniques to prevent contamination and ensure food safety.

o Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), such as gloves, aprons, and hairnets, as required by health and safety guidelines.

· Assist with Mise en Place (Setup):

o Help with the initial setup of the kitchen for service, including preparing cooking stations, utensils, and ingredients.

o Ensure that cooking stations are stocked with all necessary supplies and ingredients before service starts.

o Prepare any side items, garnishes, or condiments required for dishes.

· General Kitchen Assistance:

o Help with minor cooking tasks as instructed by senior kitchen staff.

o Assist with special requests from kitchen leadership and adapt to various kitchen needs.

o Work efficiently to support kitchen staff during peak hours and downtime.

o Maintain communication with chefs, line cooks, and other kitchen staff to ensure the kitchen operates smoothly.

· Miscellaneous Tasks:

o Perform other duties as assigned by the head chef, kitchen manager, or supervisor.

o Help with additional kitchen projects, including deep cleaning tasks or kitchen maintenance.

o Assist with any other duties that support the overall functioning of the kitchen and dining experience.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Permanent

Pay: $17.20-$19.00 per hour

Expected hours: 25 – 60 per week

Experience:
