Position Overview


Under the general supervision of the Charge Medical Technologist or designate, the General Duty MRI Technologist performs diagnostic MRI scans in accordance with procedures established within the MRI Department. The incumbent will maintain a safe environment in accordance with professional and provincial guidelines and ensure compliance with quality assurance programs and maintain standards set by accreditation. Functions are conducted in accordance with the mission and values of Shared Health, current policies, procedures and applicable legislation.


Experience



  • Previous related experience in MRI preferred.

  • Experience with Radiology Information Systems (RIS) and Picture Archiving Systems (PACS).


Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)



  • Graduate of an approved MRI training program with successful completion of the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technology registration examinations (CAMRT).


Certification/Licensure/Registration



  • Successful completion of an accredited Medical Imaging Technology Program and registration with the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists within three months of hire.

  • Current BCLS within the past 12 months or BCLS Instructor Certificate.


Qualifications And Skills



  • Windows computer environment required.

  • Microsoft Office programs preferred.

  • Demonstrated competency and perception in the manipulation and selection of MR images.

  • Excellent dexterity to operate all diagnostic instrumentation according to approved scopes of practice.

  • Follow oral and written instructions precisely with attention to detail.

  • Demonstrated effective oral and written communication skills in English.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Proficient analytical skills.

  • Work well under pressure.Maintain confidentiality with all information entrusted to the position.

  • Fluent in French and English may be required.

  • Ability to perform duties as described.
