<h3>Job Description</h3><p>Job Description<p><p>We are recruiting <b>Emergency Medicine Locum Physicians</b> for immediate and future vacancies in the <b>Northwest Territories (NWT).</b><br /></p><p><p>The successful incumbent will be working in the Stanton Territorial Hospital Emergency Department. The hospital, which opened its doors in May 2019, is the referral centre for the Northwest Territories, has a population catchment of nearly 50,000 people, and sees 19,000 emergency department visits a year.<br /></p></p><p><br /></p><p><b>Why the Northwest Territories?</b><br /></p><p>Located above the 60th parallel, the Northwest Territories awaits with seemingly endless lakes and unmatched vistas. Fully stocked with the essential businesses and services of a southern city, Yellowknife is also home to a vibrant art community, world-famous fish shacks, and our iconic houseboats of the Great Slave Lake.<br /></p><p><br /></p><br />Requirements<ul><li>CCFP-EM or FRCP preferred<br /></li><li>CCFP with recent ER experience considered<br /></li><li>ACLS and ATLS (or equivalent required)<br /></li><li>Must be eligible for licensure in the Northwest Territories<br /></li></ul><p>Emergency Physicians can work exclusively in the ER or combine their ER work with another service such as hospitalist, clinic, or community practice.<br /></p><br />Benefits<p><b>Locum Compensation</b><br /></p><p><br /></p><p><b>Yellowknife</b><br /></p><p><b>$19,200 </b>per week for night shifts<br /></p><p><b>$2,000</b> travel stipend plus accommodation provided<br /></p><p><br /></p><p><b>Standard Locum Week:</b> 6 shifts in total — typically 2 day shifts, 2 evening shifts, and 2 night shifts. Individual preferences for day or night shifts are taken into consideration.<br /></p><p><br /></p><p>Shift Durations:<br /></p><p>Day Shift: 07:00 – 15:00 (8 hours)<br /></p><p>Evening Shift: 14:00 – 22:00 (8 hours)<br /></p><p>Night Shift: 22:00 – 07:00 (9 hours)<br /></p><p><b><br />Additional Locum Benefits</b></p><ul><li>Daily On-Call Rates<br /></li><li>Stipend for Travel Time<br /></li><li>Furnished Accommodations during service period<br /></li><li>Return Travel Costs Covered, including accommodation if required<br /></li><li>No Out-of-Pocket Expenses for travel or housing<br /></li></ul><p><b>--------</b><br /></p><p><br /></p><p><b>For those interested in a longer-term opportunity, highly competitive salaried contracts ranging from one to three years are available</b>. Physicians on these contracts benefit from a comprehensive compensation package that includes a Northern Living Allowance, a Recruitment Bonus, an Annual Retention Bonus, and Retirement Income Benefits equivalent to 15% of their annual salary. Salaried positions also eliminate the burden of overhead, billing, or practice management. Additional supports include relocation assistance, paid vacation and sick leave, maternity and parental leave benefits, continuing medical education (CME) support, and a full suite of group benefits encompassing dental, extended health, life insurance, AD&D, and long-term disability coverage.<br /></p><p><br /></p><p><br /></p><p><b>Licensing & Credentialing</b><br /></p><p>Not licensed yet: NWT licensing and credentialing procedures takes 4-8 weeks to complete and is quite similar to other jurisdictions.
