SUMMARY: The position of Estimating Manager is responsible for managing the new mold Estimators and the Spare Parts Coordinator and will be the main liaison between the estimating and sales team with all costing-related and technical questions. This role reports to the VP, Sales and is a key role within the department.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Manage workload within the estimating team, understanding the project mix and priorities so that needs are met on a timely basis.
  • Work with the VP of Sales to review estimates and develop commercial strategies for projects.
  • Consult with Engineering Management for more challenging programs to provide innovative solutions for customers, consistent with StackTeck’s design standards.
  • Daily meeting with VP, Sales to review workload, quote list, approvals for projects over $500,000.
  • Review and approve estimates daily to ensure consistency, accuracy and realization of margins.
  • Manage and mentor the estimating team, including the Spare Parts Coordinator.
  • Act as a liaison between the estimating and sales teams with all costing-related and technical questions.
  • Champion continuous improvement projects,
  • ERP implementation (MS Dynamics 365).
  • Data collection and estimate references database.
  • Automated quote generation using Artificial Intelligence.
  • Manage and maintain all estimating tools.
  • Generate weekly and monthly high-value metrics to review with the VP of Sales and the management
  • team to drive actions.
  • Generate complete new mold, parts and services estimates. These might include the creation of functioning
  • mold design concepts in CAD, negotiation with outside vendors, and cross-functional communication
  • with internal departments.
  • Take part in project kick-off meetings to ensure all parties are aligned about costs.
  • Participate in the PCMS weekly meeting to review ongoing and completed jobs to identify areas of improvement.
  • Work cross-functionally with sales, engineering, manufacturing, planning, scheduling, and supply chain to identify and resolve manufacturing and costing issues.
  • Work with accounting to ensure cost structure is maintained for business success.
  • Maintain foreign exchange rates, standard cost data (steel, purchased components etc.)
  • Prepare price/cost data analysis for multi-mold order decision making.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:


TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE

  • Post-Secondary education – Mechanical Engineering Degree preferred.
  • Minimum one year supervisory experience.
  • Must have minimum 5 years’ recent experience in an estimating role within the Injection Mold Industry (required).
  • Experience in Sales or CSP training/certification beneficial but not essential.
  • Experience in thin wall, closure and/or other custom injection molds.
  • Strong experience in mold assembly design, capable of producing mold concepts using CAD (2D-3D) technology. Unigraphics NX preferred
  • Exposure to machining practices, process planning and sub-contracting experience for quoting
  • Strong understanding of business concepts; gross margins, currency conversion, job costing.
  • Experienced level competency with MS Excel
