<p><strong>Position: ENVIRONMENTAL COORDINATOR</strong></p><p><br></p><p>Greenfire is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented <strong>Environmental Coordinator</strong> to support our oil sands operations. Reporting to the Manager, Environment & Regulatory, you will play a key role in environmental compliance, monitoring, reclamation, and sustainability initiatives. This role is ideal for someone who thrives on collaboration, problem-solving, and ensuring operations meet or exceed environmental and regulatory standards. </p><p><br></p><p>At Greenfire, we are committed to responsible resource development, environmental stewardship, and building sustainable operations that benefit our communities.</p><p><br></p><p><strong>LOCATION</strong></p><p><br></p><ul><li>Calgary, AB</li></ul><p><br></p><p><strong>KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:</strong></p><p><br></p><p>Environmental Monitoring and Reporting:</p><p><br></p><ul><li>Coordinate field programs and oversee the development and timely submission of annual EPEA reports and other required federal and provincial reports.</li><li>Oversee the collection, analysis, and reporting of environmental data related to water, soil, and biodiversity, including the management of third-party contractors.</li><li>Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and industry standards, preparing environmental reports as required by provincial and federal regulators.</li><li>Maintain and update environmental monitoring systems, tracking performance against targets and environmental regulations.</li></ul><p><br></p><p>Regulatory Compliance:</p><p><br></p><ul><li>Advise company personnel on environmental issues related to project exploration, design, construction, operations, and closure phases.</li><li>Conduct internal environmental audits and assessments to ensure compliance with permits and standards. </li><li>Foster a culture of environmental responsibility across the workforce by ensuring awareness of key environmental issues and regulations.</li></ul><p><br></p><p>Reclamation and Remediation:</p><p><br></p><ul><li>Coordinate reclamation and remediation programs including environmental site assessments, detailed site investigations, on site remediation, and soil/groundwater monitoring.</li><li>Manage consultants and contractors to deliver closure programs and meet annual reclamation spend target. </li></ul><p><br></p><p>Environmental Assessments:</p><p><br></p><ul><li>Assist in preparing and reviewing environmental assessments for new projects and expansions.</li><li>Evaluate the environmental impact of existing operations and recommend mitigation strategies.</li><li>Contribute to the development and execution of environmental management plans and programs.</li></ul><p><br></p><p><strong>QUALIFICATIONS:</strong></p><p><br></p><p>Education:</p><p><br></p><ul><li>Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in Environmental Sciences, Environmental Engineering, or a related field. </li><li>Certifications in environmental management or related disciplines (e.g., Environmental Professional designation) are considered an asset.</li></ul><p><br></p><p>Experience:</p><p><br></p><ul><li>3+ years of relevant experience (oil and gas, natural resources, or related sectors). An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered. </li><li>Experience with regulatory compliance and environmental reporting in Alberta is highly desirable.</li><li>Knowledge of the oil sands industry, specifically in situ operations and environmental management in the region, is preferred.</li></ul><p><br></p><p>Skills:</p><p><br></p><ul><li>Strong knowledge of environmental regulations, including those specific to Alberta and the oil sands sector.</li><li>Proficiency in GIS and environmental data management systems (or ability to quickly learn)</li><li>Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex environmental data and trends.</li></ul><p><br></p><p><strong>CORE COMPETENCIES:</strong></p><p><br></p><ul><li>Strong interpersonal skills with a focus on teamwork and collaboration.</li><li>Demonstrates integrity, accountability, and environmental stewardship.</li><li>Collaborates effectively across teams and builds trust with internal and external stakeholders.</li><li>Drives continuous improvement and contributes to Greenfire’s sustainability goals.</li><li>Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare clear reports and deliver presentations to diverse stakeholders.</li><li>Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.</li></ul><p><br></p><p><strong>Greenfire offers a competitive compensation and benefits package, commensurate with experience.</strong></p><p><br></p><p>We thank all applicants for their interest; however, only those selected for interviews will be contacted.
