Position Summary:
ErinoakKids is currently seeking a Resource Consultant to work with families and clinical teams through Early Childhood Resources Services/PIRS in the Region of Peel. Peel Inclusion Resource Services (PIRS) is a partnership between the Region of Peel and several community agencies, including ErinoakKids, to provide special needs resourcing to facilitate early intervention and successful inclusion of children with special needs in licensed childcare programs. Successful candidates will be strong and supportive collaborators with experience working within childcare programs and with childcare program staff.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Through Peel Inclusion Resource Services (PIRS), work in partnership with assigned licensed childcare program staff to build capacity with inclusion practices through coaching, modeling and training.
  • Work within teams (family, child care, interdisciplinary) to prioritize and creatively solve problems, conflicts and challenges, both inter-personal and functional to ensure successful integration of services and inclusion of children into community programs.
  • Select and use observation and screening tools to identify children requiring intervention or referrals. Develop Individual Program Plans in partnership with families and the child care program.
  • Recommend the use of evidence-based practices and inclusive policies. Access additional multi-disciplinary supports as appropriate.
  • Maintain up-to-date documentation in the Electronic Health Records and completion of all required PIRS documentation.
  • Model developmentally appropriate activities and positive behaviour management techniques through the regular contact with children and colleagues.


Qualifications:

  • Early Childhood Education Diploma with a Resource Teacher certificate or Advance Studies in Special Needs. Degree in Child Studies is preferred; The degree or diploma will be matched against the criteria outlined in the Region of Peel’s recruitment guidelines (i.e. Recognized Post-Secondary Programs that Support the Definition of Resource Consultant).
  • A minimum of 4 years of experience working with children (infancy to age 12) with physical and/or developmental disabilities in a child care setting;
  • Experience working in the role of a Resource Consultant within a childcare setting;
  • Ability to work in collaboration with parents, caregivers, children, professionals and community members in a childcare setting;
  • Good organization, time management, and planning skills;
  • Strong capability to independently manage a dynamic and varied caseload, prioritizing as child care program and client needs evolve;
  • Registered and in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Education;
  • Valid driver’s license and use of a personal vehicle.
