<p>Founded in 1935, Simcoe Hall Settlement House is a vital community hub in Durham Region dedicated to supporting individuals and families in need. Through programs focused on <b>food security, youth engagement, and family support</b>, we help thousands of residents each year build stronger, healthier lives.</p>
<p>We are now seeking passionate and skilled community leaders to join our <b>Board of Directors</b>, with a focus on candidates who bring experience in <b>Human Resources, Fundraising, or Community Development</b>.</p>
<h3>About the Role</h3>
<p>As a member of our volunteer Board of Directors, you will play a key role in shaping the future of Simcoe Hall Settlement House. You will provide governance, strategic oversight, and expertise to help strengthen our organization and advance our mission. This is a meaningful opportunity to contribute your professional skills while giving back to your community.</p>
<h3>Key Responsibilities</h3>
<ul>
<li>Provide strategic direction, oversight, and governance for the organization.</li>
<li>Apply your expertise in HR, fundraising, or community development to help strengthen programs and operations.</li>
<li>Support the Executive Director and leadership team through committee work and advisory input.</li>
<li>Act as an ambassador for Simcoe Hall in the community and help expand our partnerships and networks.</li>
<li>Participate in 10-12 board meetings per year (in person) and serve on at least one committee.</li>
</ul>
<h3>Who We’re Looking For</h3>
<ul>
<li><b>HR experience</b> – expertise in recruitment, performance management, culture, or DEI initiatives.</li>
<li><b>Fundraising experience</b> – background in donor engagement, sponsorships, events, or grant writing.</li>
<li><b>Community development experience</b> – understanding of local needs, social programs, or community partnerships.</li>
<li>Strong communication, collaboration, and leadership skills.</li>
<li>A deep passion for community service, inclusion, and positive social impact.</li>
</ul>
<p>Prior non profit or board experience is an asset but not required.</p>
