Position Purpose


Lead a multi-shift maintenance organization at Calgary SFC 7279 to deliver safe, reliable, and cost-effective facility and equipment maintenance, maximize uptime of automated material handling systems (conveyors/MHE), and support the Maintenance Manager with planning, budgeting, vendor management, and systems discipline. This role requires strong technical understanding, people leadership, and business acumen, plus high computer literacy to support associates and adopt enterprise tools (e.g., Ariba, Service Channel, Dimensions). Prior experience in these specific tools is not required; the ability to learn quickly is essential.


Key Responsibilities



  • Lead preventive and corrective maintenance execution across three shifts; build daily/weekly plans, set priorities, and ensure strong shift handoffs.

  • People leadership for 3 ACs and 11 associates: coach, develop, set expectations, manage performance, and ensure adequate coverage and training.

  • Drive reliability and CMMS discipline: work order quality, PM compliance, backlog management, asset record accuracy, and reporting hygiene.

  • Manage contractors and service providers (scope, schedule, safety, quality, cost); support quote/bid reviews and service performance follow‑up.

  • Own parts/supplies ordering and documentation to support expense control and payment readiness; maintain organized records aligned to site processes.

  • Support budget planning, forecasting inputs, and monthly expense tracking/scorecard needs for SFC 7279; contribute to annual capital planning inputs.

  • Partner with site leadership to communicate risks/events impacting throughput and drive timely problem resolution.

  • Provide leadership for emergency response and time‑sensitive service restoration; support after‑hours calls as required.

  • Apply project management skillset to plan/coordinate maintenance projects (scope, schedule, stakeholders, risks, and follow‑through).


Work Schedule, Flexibility & On‑Call



  • Schedule‑flexible to support work completion across days/afternoons/nights as required; willingness to adjust hours when needed to complete critical work.

  • Available for after‑hours emergency calls and capable of coordinating urgent response/restoration.

  • Planned late overlap: Minimum of once per month, work an adjusted schedule with a shift ending at 8:00 PM to overlap with the afternoon team for face‑to‑face leadership and issue resolution.


Experience / Qualifications Required



  • 5+ years of supervisory experience.

  • 2+ years of relevant work experience in a mechanized distribution centre environment is required.

  • Experience with contractor/vendor coordination and performance follow‑up (safety, quality, schedule, cost).

  • Experience ordering parts/supplies with strong documentation practices and cost awareness.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint; strong overall computer literacy and systems learning agility.

  • Demonstrated project management ability (planning, coordination, tracking, stakeholder communication, and delivery).

  • Must meet minimum time‑in‑position (1 year) and performance management code requirements (M).


Assets / Preferred Qualifications



  • Journeyman Electrician or Millwright (Red Seal) is an asset (Millwright preferred).

  • CMMS experience (work orders, PM scheduling, asset management, reporting).

  • Project management experience or related training is an asset.
