<h3>Position Overview</h3>
<p>Under the direction of the Site Coordinator or Supervisor – Nutrition and Food Services, the Dietary Aide is responsible for preparing, serving, and distributing nutritious meals to clients and staff. The role includes cashier duties, adherence to sanitation safety guidelines, and compliance with departmental policies and government regulations.</p>
<h3>Responsibilities</h3>
<ul>
<li>Prepare and serve nutritious meals to patients, staff, and visitors.</li>
<li>Perform cashier duties for meal services.</li>
<li>Follow proper sanitation and safety guidelines for food handling.</li>
<li>Adhere to departmental and regional policies, procedures, and legislative requirements.</li>
<li>Use independent judgment to prioritize tasks and address unusual matters.</li>
<li>Utilize an electronic menu management system when required.</li>
</ul>
<h3>Experience</h3>
<ul>
<li>At least six (6) months of experience in food handling and/or health‑care food services.</li>
</ul>
<h3>Education</h3>
<ul>
<li>Minimum Grade 10 education.</li>
<li>Knowledge and understanding of Microsoft Office applications, Outlook/email, and online training.</li>
<li>Other suitable combinations of education and experience may be considered.</li>
</ul>
<h3>Certification / Licensure</h3>
<ul>
<li>Completion of a Dietary Aide certificate.</li>
<li>Current Food Handler Training certificate level 1 or equivalent Food Sanitation course, or willingness to obtain one within the first six (6) months of employment.</li>
</ul>
<h3>Qualifications & Skills</h3>
<ul>
<li>Knowledge of therapeutic and texture‑modified diets.</li>
<li>Understanding of sanitary food handling practices.
</li><li>Experience with Electronic Menu Management Information System (EMMIS) when required.</li>
<li>Competency in cash management.</li>
<li>Ability to respect and promote a culturally diverse population.</li>
<li>Proficiency in both official languages for bilingual positions.</li>
<li>Understanding of confidentiality practices across all mediums.</li>
<li>Good work and attendance record.</li>
<li>Valid Class 5 driver’s licence, an all‑purpose insured vehicle, and liability insurance of at least $1,000,000.00.</li>
</ul>
<h3>Physical Requirements</h3>
<ul>
<li>Lift items up to 1–5 kg (2.2–11 lbs.) constantly, 6–11 kg (13.2–24 lbs.) occasionally, and 23 kg (50 lbs.) rarely.</li>
<li>Meet the physical and mental demands of the job.</li>
<li>Work evenings and weekends as required.</li>
</ul>
