Job Title: Data Analyst
Contract Duration: 3 months
Pay range: C$65 – 75/hr
Location: Toronto, ON
Work Type: Hybrid, 1 day a week on Tuesday is mandatory


Key Accountabilities:
Customer:

  • Produce specialized reporting packages, dashboards, and scorecards for businesses, with a focus on understanding objectives and delivering insights for: (1) product design and development; (2) customer engagement; (3) account management; and (4) business decision-making
  • Use various methodologies to rapidly generate impactful interactive visualizations or tools
  • The Data Analyst leads the implementation of initiatives in support of the overall business/function strategy
  • Conduct analysis to provide enhanced BI to inform the management leadership team
  • Build basic layouts and templates to be utilized by internal partners
  • Validate the quality and integrity of the data included in the Reporting Packages and Dashboards
  • Develop meaningful and insightful commentary/ insights on new and existing reporting packages
  • Adopt, implement, and effectively evolve report automation and/or visualization standards
  • May be required, as a subject matter expert, to provide advisory or consultative services for supported colleagues and/or businesses regarding multi-format data visualization techniques

  • Understand business drivers, definitions, and metrics in order to interpret findings, act, and provide meaningful direction
  • Keep current with industry best practices and search for new and innovative ways to visually present data
  • May develop and provide complex reporting, analysis, and assessments at the functional or enterprise level
  • Adhere to internal policies /procedures and applicable regulatory guidelines, contribute to the review of internal processes and activities, and assist in identifying potential opportunities to improve operation efficiencies
  • Identify variances and contribute to the analysis, due diligence, and implementation of initiatives and/or business operations within the defined area of responsibility
  • Support development and/or/implementation of standards, policies, procedures, and solutions that mitigate risk and maximize availability of service, efficiency and effectiveness

  • Continuously enhance knowledge/expertise in own area and keep current on emerging trends /developments and grow knowledge of the business, analytical tools, and techniques
  • Prioritize and manage own workload to deliver quality results and meet assigned timelines
  • Support a positive work environment that promotes service to the business, quality, innovation, and teamwork; ensure timely communication of issues/ points of interest
  • Identify and recommend opportunities to enhance productivity, effectiveness, and operational efficiency
  • The Data Analyst establishes effective relationships across multiple business and technology partners, program and project managers
  • Participate in knowledge transfer within the team and other business units, including participation in cross-functional groups or committees (e.g., Data Councils)

Breadth & Depth:


  • Experienced professional role providing specialized guidance/ assistance to function-supported
  • Requires a strong understanding of Workday reporting, tools and visualization, and techniques
  • Strong knowledge of various data sources and ability to connect to multiple data sources relevant to the business unit supported
  • Connect and query data or obtain the data and prepare summaries and reports
  • Focus on short to medium-term (weekly-monthly), non-routine specialized/ complex issues and/or escalated matters
  • Independently perform tasks from end to end

Required Education/ Experience:

  • Degree/Certifications Required: Undergraduate degree or technical certificate
  • Years of experience: 8+ years of related experience


Must Haves:

  • Advanced verbal and written communication skills required, including ability to communicate with all levels of management and executives
  • Advanced knowledge of Workday report and dashboard development (including matrix reports and composite reports), calculated fields, condition rules, SQUs including Core HCM, Payroll, Absence, Time Tracking and Benefits


Nice to Have:

  • Knowledge of French is considered an asset.
  • Provide specialized end-to-end BI support, visualization/presentation, and analytics in Workday for a significant business/function and/or projects/initiative.
  • May be considered a subject matter expert in WorkdayBI and Reporting.
  • Accountable for the development, adoption, and ongoing evolution of a best-in-class reporting and/or BI capability and may deliver on ad-hoc projects as assigned.


Notes:

  • Working within the workday environment working in a large organization.
  • Advanced knowledge of Workday reports and dashboard development. Specifically Payroll, Absence, Time Tracking and Benefits
  • Detail-oriented and strong analytical skills
  • Proven ability to exercise sound judgment in making decisions
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively and build relationships across teams and functions
